Noob askin Noob question...Bare with me...
Here goes.
Although some of my friends have been into modding their cars for years, non of em have ever gotten a turbo. And since I've never moded a car at all, I have a few quetions.
I've read a few post about turbos and stages and what not. What are these stages? Do you need to go in the order of the stages like stage 0, then stage 1 and so on, or can you just go straight to stage 3? And what brand of turbo would you guys suggest? Was thinking about the Turbonetics full system... what do you guys think?
I've also heard about having to change some of the stock engine parts prior to getting a turbo. How important is that? and what parts should I switch out?
Like I said, I'm a total noob.
So cut me a break... Cant learn if I dont ask questions

I wont go into the internals question or what is best. But no you dont have to go in stages. You can go straight to buying the stage 2 or stage 3 without buiying the stage 1. All it is is building on each other.
ZPI for instance: Stage 0: no FMIC, no new injectors, no EMS
Then stage one adds a FMIC, Injectors, Greddy EMS, and small other things.
Hope that helps

To put it in basic terms, as you move up the "stages" you will be making more power. With this gain in power you also require better cooling, more fuel delivery, and a different spark rate to lead to combustion. This is why the different stages come with more and more components. You need to seriously consider all the options, costs, and demands before you go for big boost numbers.

I'm pretty much a newbie myself... but from my understanding... Maintenance is a must... Since your forcing air into you car and you car is more prone to engine vibrations. It is a must to routinely check it all lines, hoses, piping, bolts, etc. are all still in tacked and are stable.
If you decide to go turbo... My advice is to ask the manufacturer about maintenance and what to check out at time to make sure everything is copasetic.

If your just starting out, the Turbonetics system would be awesome for you, there has been quite a few turbonetics owners sucessfully getting theirs installed without a hitch. It comes with everything you would need. But the price is hefty.
