P0335?

Just wondering how common it is to get this crank position sensor failure code for other reasons. After much trial and error testing I had an FIC working pretty well on my 08 XB with no resistor on the crk and a 2.2k on the cam until I tried removing the cam resistor. After removing the cam resistor I got an immediate P0335 and the car was undriveable so I removed the FIC. That's when I discovered that my ND K22PR-U plugs were fouled and couldn't fire the ~10:1 AFRs I get in open loop without the FIC to compensate for my larger injectors. I expected misfire codes but instead only got the P0335 CEL. I replaced the K22s with NGK BKR7EIX iridiums and all the plug issues are gone.
So... I'm wondering if fouled plugs could cause a P0335 CEL during high load/rpm conditions? Not asking for theoretical postulations here, just first hand experience please.

I can say ive hard cars that had fouled plugs that did not run.. And they did not have a crank sensor code.

Thanks, that's what I expected. I've never had a P0335 CEL without the FIC connected but get the code often with the FIC connected. I'm just waiting for better weather to test with an oscilloscope and try to get this FIC working correctly with my XB2.
