Actually not all chevy's blow butt... i got an '04 Impala SS in the driveway, that thing is a beast, its fast, very reponsive and a pleasure to drive...

 

alright since you guys were insulting ford and chevy im gunna hafta say i usually hated chevys but im also going to have to say that the new zo6 is amazing my dad test drove one and i saw a video of my dads friend racing it while his best freind was driving his SILVER only silver one in the U.S. atleast it used to be Enzo wow and the ford GT is a pretty fun car to be in also but other than that all ford and chevy's other cars are pretty lame

anyone think a SC tC could keep up with a 02 WRX? They're like 227hp @ crank so roughly 195hp-205whp.

 

Wow, everyone must have ADHD worse than me. Back to the topic at hand. The Cobalt SS will not have the supercharged ecotec anymore. The 2.4 liter naturally aspirated ecotec is replacing it, due to gm having too many problems with the supercharged engines. Like someone mentioned, they would run fine one day and like ___ the next. A friend of mine works at Saturn and they would have people test drive one and sometimes the damn things wouldn't even start. What a POS. Also, the cobalt might make more hp, but dont forget it's pushing about 12-14 psi I believe and its intercooled. Wait till people start freeing up restrictions on the TCs with TRD S/C kits.

 

Saw you just posted this. I think wrxs dyno even less due to the parasitic awd drivetrain loss. Most I've seen at the track stock usually run low 15s, maybe high 14s. From a roll a supercharged TC should have no problem and i think from a stop 0-60 the tc might have a chance and after that TC would start pulling. The subie also weighs more than the TC as well. WRXs are dogs in stock form. However, curious as to how the upcoming ones will perform, as they will come with 2.5 liters stock. Should help out in the torque and lag department. Course, the cars will be fugly as sin

 

The new wrx's just so you know are underrated and are laying down great numbers. I tried to buy an 06 wagon but could not justify the price difference between the TC and thre wrx. I got my tc, ordered the trd sc, tein ss-p coil overs, factory ground effects, spoiler, floor matt option, and rear bumper protector, gap protection and the platinum 100K miles warranty for $5000 less than a wrx wagon *LOL*

 

I don't know about it replacing it but the Cobalt SS has offered a 2.4L N/A engine and a 2.2L S/C'd engine from the start.

Have any concrete proof that they are in fact discontinuing the 2.2L S/C engine before it completes it's first year of production?

 

they made limited amounts of the S/C Cobalt SS.

it was just to keep up with Scion and the tC.

Here's my reasoning, by only offering a limited release of a sub-$25K car, how are they going to make a profit on top of the R&D? That is just stupid business practice.

 

My dad works for GM in Lordstown, Ohio.

He said they are changing the lines to run the 2.4L engines.

It wasn't really stupid business practices, they brought the car out at the right time, now they are going to have a N/A engine w/ equal power w/o the s/c.

I think chevy made a right turn and a wrong turn with this car.

Right - to compete with other companies targeting 20 somethings

Wrong - they didnt make a lot of them

 

Well if that's the case, it's going to destroy what little resale value the S/C'd one had.

 

they were overpriced IMO.....just like the GTO

On that Street Tuner Challenge show they dynoed a stock Cobalt SS (which weighs ~2900 lbs, just like the tC) at ~210 HP at the wheels. The guys on the show were "pleased" with the surprise.

See... its easy to make a slow car reliable... 4-cyl engines dont put out enough torque to hurt anything... Building a car around an engine with 400 ft lbs of torque takes good engineering, strong parts... I don't see toyota producing anything like that to the public...
I like my xB cause its cheap and reliable.... I bought a Z06 to compete with the worlds best sports cars... and it does that with ease and is totally reliable.... best bang for the buck out there and its one of the fastest production cars of all time.... lets see toyota match that...
