SC OWNERS: Broken Supercharger Impeller housing mount
Look man, I'm just trying to keep this factual.
Fact: Brackets are breaking.
Fact: The automatic fit kit for the TRD Supercharger includes 2 shims and an oil dipstick. It does NOT include a stronger bracket like your "in the know" friend is saying.
Your friend is lying to you. Simple as that.
Go look up the parts for PTR01-21051, which is the automatic fit kit. It includes shims for the *EXISTING* supercharger bracket, and an oil dipstick.
Now please, stop trying to muddy the waters here.

like i said.
i didnt say he was in the know where did that come from?
we were talking about supercharger and this is what he has noticed, whether or not if its written its the same or not.
or i just understood it wrong and the spacers are whats doing it
and who knows, we may be talking about to totally different things cuase there was an unTRDed supercharger there too that apparently cost only half price. which i was totally shocked about but it was there...
(makes me think if theres an updated kit out there that is being tested... it appeared to look the same but with a different finish to it...)

with the oil leak, and this bracket problem, i am really starting to reconsider getting the sc. but thank you for all the people who have had problems / solutions/educated discussion regarding this issue. even though i do not have a s/c as of yet, i will also make attempts to contact trd. it may/may not be a little easier for me to contact them being a dealer. i wish i could give more insite on the dealer's end, but my dealership has only installed one s/c and the only problem we had was that one is the girl heard a "whinning" which i had to explain was the normal sound of the compressor (which her salesman failed to inform her about)
Only issue I have had is the bracket, all else perfect. I have no worries about the seal personally. And if it goes I will find a fix, not pray on the dealer. This is a high performance part. Shiz happens and I accept it.
On the leak my opinion stands...
#1 retarded low oil weight of 5w30 being used in hotter climates. I have used 10w40 since new with no leaks. Low weight oil is heck on seals
#2 oil drain tube is VERY small. If any oil pressure is to build up at all in the sc housing then it will cause a seal leak
#3 TRD goofed on the design keeping the backside valve cover breather hose attached to the valve cover. Knowing this, when you go in boost you are pressurizing your bottom end. When you do that it makes it harder for oil to flow out of the sc as it is a gravity drain.. Also if air makes it up the tube it will pressurize the sc housing itself... which will cause seal issues.
I have eliminated all of the above except the smallish oil drain tube. Just food for thought

OH and Highlander I'm still here. lol
OK now here's the reason I'm posting. I talked to one of the guys at TRD that is not retarded apparently and he told me that there is a specific order in which these bolts must be tightened down. If it is not done properly the bracket will break and so on.
This part is available for sale by itself as well. The part # is PTR01-21054 and I can sell it for $75 shipped to anyone who wants to buy one. OR if you need to know what the tell your dealer to order there's the part #.
Josh
Thanks for the update on a part number.
Anyway you can find out how widespread this is? Will it be covered by the dealer?
It sounds like it has ntohing to do with if the supercharger is modded or not. Simple install error if the bolts wear done wrong.
