Where you get your car tuned at.. Dyno sessions usually run about $75-$80 an hr. And you get someone who knows what they are doing, it should take no more than an hr. to tune your car.

Who are the better tuners for tC's, and are any of them local/close to SoCal?

goto unichip.com > where to buy > type in your info and then look for the ones that say " - unichip custom tuners" those are the pros... but they all charge a minimum of 500 dollars

$500 dollars for a tune......man, my car better walk and talk if I'm going to spend that much for a tune. maybe I'm just use to the Wham-Bam-Thank You-Maam tunes that Kenny puts on our car. But I'm sure as hell glad I don't have to pay $500 bucks for a tune

true, and seeing as how tunes barely work on our cars makes it even less worth it

OK man, you are probably going to want to get some sort of Intercooler and probably bigger injectors as well. 250hp out of an automatic is not going to be easy, and you will probably also need to get some sort of Tranny upgrade. Save yourself the headache and just go Turbo...

lol...even I didn't say that Highlander... But I do concur, you will need some form of extra cooling. Meth injection seems to be pretty good for that also.

You know Rippmods sells cams specially made for the s/c.... Good luck with everything you decide to do. Be carefull with that blower. Usually people that void their warranties go turbo for more reasons then power. I can see a simple pulley swap with a header back exhaust, but you're talking about a big setup. I'm not saying your s/c will ever fail but more along the lines of being prepared for the worst.

well how much hp will the ripp cams and full exhaust except headers get me?

i dont think either voids the warranty (is trd really going to check the cams )

check icenines thread so you can get an idea.

i think after swapping cams, warranty is the last thing in my mind. ripp's cams is pricey, ill wait till everything settles down and its a regrind also.

A math question to all you s/c folk. A 5spd tC + TRD supercharger + NST 9.5 pulley + short ram intake + MMW header/s-pipe + DraXas cat-back exhaust + bosch110 bpv = ?whp (if one were to make an educated guess)

sounds like fun...okay, 5spd tc=160+trd supercharger=40+nst 9.5 pulley=21+short ram i'll say...10, headers...i know they say like 26 hp, i'll use 20 and exhaust..i'll give another 10, i don't know if a bpv adds hp, so anyway, 160+40+21+10+20+10 is like 260hp X 0.8 to assume approxmately 20% drivetrain loss =208 whp

why not add the lightweight crank and water pump pulley? also you would need a custom intake to work with the supercharger.

yeah I got a dyno-proven intake in the works. Also drivetrain loss for the tC has already been estimated at 13%. 20% drivetrain loss is more common on RWD cars.

yeah, well, there is also the theory that the whole is great than the sum of its parts. so a supercharger with increased boost breathing through less restrictive intake and exhaling through a high flow exhaust and light weight pulleys could make for a better than expected hp increase. you should maybe add bigger injectors and a piggy back ecu. but believe me, i thought about the idea of tuning up a supercharger, but the turbos do it easier. i mean a trd supercharger makes 200 hp at the crank with 7 psi, a zpi stage 0 turbo at 6 psi makes 230 whp. and i mean, even with the warrenty from trd, i can't see the wisdom of doing it if it means making return trips to the dealership for repairs that may or may not be under warrenty due to presense of aftermarket parts.

and do some math, 3 grand for the supercharger, 500 for the headers, 250 for the intake, 100 for the pulley, and the cost of the exhaust, that bpv for how many hp?

zpi stage 0 for $2600, install, gauges to monitor, install cost? 230 whp. turbo sounds better to me.

Seeing as S/C tC's with no mods put down about 195whp, I think it's safe to say he would net a little more than 208whp. I'd guess in the range of 220-230whp.

OK well, it would all depend on the car, but here is a dyno with a 9lb pulley, 3" mandrel exhaust and custom intake. I made 227hp and 197 ft/lbs. With the header, I would say at most an extra 15 hp and 10 ft/lbs. So you would be looking at around 240hp, maybe a little less. I never got my car dynoed after I put the header on. And now I will NEVER get it done.. haha
