i also don't understand why the others on their site are much less..oh well.

Am i the only one who can't see the Scion tC mounts on their website?
Yes, the second batch is in, and I have been contacting people in order about picking up a set, I have sent you PM, but not recieved a response yet - you might want to check it again... Sorry to most people - don't get your hopes up yet - all the mounts in the 2nd batch have been claimed already but as people drop out, I will let others know

For everybody I contacted about those extra - please get back to me by Friday, otherwise I will be moving down my list of people who have asked to purchase a set, until we have a full stock... Just a reminder, since I do not want anybody left behind again, we are going to keep the price right at $165

I can tell you one thing, the install directions are heinous.

We're trying to figure out which two tranny bracket bolts the install guide is talking about.... I assume it's the bracket that surrounds the rear motor mount itself...

We tried all afternoon. Getting the rear mount in is nearly impossible without a lift, so we're giving up. We can get the mount loose, but the bracket surrounding the mount has 2 bolts - one of which is EXTREMELY hard to get loose. Even with the airbox and battery removed, we simply can't get enough leverage to break it free.

Update: We got the bolt free, but it didn't change anything. The manual unfortunately doesn't state which bracket needs to be removed in order for the mount to come free... The furthest we can get is to have the mount wobble around loosely in there, but there isn't enough visibility in there to figure out which bracket needs to come off.

I didn't do the install but I sort of watched. I think they had to unbolt the front mount to allow the engine to rock back a little bit and then had someone push the engine forward while the second guy wiggled the mount out.

You loosen it there, but you can't get it out until you remove some other bracket that's bolted to the transmission...

Hi guys,

Yes - there is no way around it - the rear mount is just plain difficult to get out...

I am sorry we could not take many pictures of how we got it out - but as anybody who has sucessfully removed it can tell you, there is just not room to get a camera in there to show!

I will have my boss give a more technical explanation soon, he is out of the shop today (he did the install here in house) but I can assure you that both mounts can be swapped on the ground with jacks and stands. That is how we did it

If anybody has questions - do not hesitate to e-mail sales@speed-source.net or call 217.687.2392

Mounts are hard to install but worth it once they are done. Take you time and look for easy outs for the people who will follow in your install footsteps.

Of course. You can get away with running the front, until you have time to remove the rear mount.

When we did the install of the rear, we just removed as much as possible to allow the best access to the mount. Then we pulled and pushed on the motor to make clearance. For sure, the transmission bracket must come out.

I just wanted to let you, and everybody know that this is NOT TRUE... There are only 2 engine mounts that support the weight of the car - and those are the left and right... The front and rear mounts are there for 1 thing - torque control, and that is why polymounts are really good at controling the engine movement under load > stock rubber mounts. You do not have to worry about only having the left and right in while you switch the front and rear

I am not picking on you - but your friends are work are misinformed, because those 2 mounts you leave on are the only things really supporting your engine ;) We have an engine swap kit for the MKI MR2's which allows you to drop in a 3SGTE with little issue... this kit focuses itself around the left and right custom mounts we have designed, which keep the engine safely in place - and when we are mocking up extra parts these are the only 2 mounts holding the 3S in place

just wanted to clear that up guys! good luck getting the rear mount in - we really found that with the front mount out, we could rock the engine a bit, to weasel out that rear mount, and get our replacement mounts inside.

We finally got my rear mount in after my buddy Gary fiddled with the bracket.

Definitely putting more power to the ground now, and there's a lot less cabin noise compared to the stiffy.

One question though, will the mounts "break in" to the point where the low-rpm vibrations (under 2k) will ease up?

My experience is that they have broken in a bit and the car is more comfortable. I may have just gotten used to them though.

We have ordered metal and polyurethane to have another 25 kit in stock - ready to roll... I would say that by the middle of January we will have everything boxed up and ready to ship - and I will then
1) add them to the website
2) let you guys know they are ready

We just have 3 customer cars we need to get out of here by ~Christmas, along with the wait for the metal and other materials
