Yes but not everyone wants to just win a race. I know a 45 year old guy who drives an s/c tc because he wanted something a little more peppy and he isn't going to put on a loud header, exhaust, intake etc. It all comes down to what someone is looking for. Just cause YOU don't like s/c's doesn't mean someone else is a fool for getting one. I would never buy a 500,000 Lamborghini, but thats me and people who do buy them they buy them whatever.

I just got a 07-08 s/c...was reading somewhere before (can't find it again...grrr) that there was a lower priced DEALER install somewhere in NY area....could someone please PM me with that info? I know i can get a shop to do it for cheaper...but i dont want to drive that long of a distance without the TRD re-flash....

Not saying everyone races or wants to race. That was just a perspective I put on it as an example. Here is another perspective that maybe you can grasp at.
The TRD S/C HP - To - Dollar ratio is substantially low. I also judge a products effectiveness by the HP-to-Dollar ratio and it does not favor a S/C at all. So, if people like to waste money then by all means go for it. All I'm saying is that it's Over priced. If you can get it for Under $2k then it's worth the buy. But new these units were costing as much as a basic turbo setup....and there is no way it compares to a turbo kit.

The people who keep saying "less work than a turbo" have Never been turboed. There is NO MORE maintenance required when boosted on a turbo than there is a S/C'er. That is a MYTH....end of story. You boost on a turbo and put it on 10lbs and leave it there....you only have to change your oil and that be the jist of it. When you start to want to go faster than you make a tremendous amount of power OVER what a S/C'er ever makes. More power = More than likely other weaker components to break (clutches, gears/synchros, etc...). But again, there is no more maintenance required.
And the TRD charger does not WHINE like you hear out of a Roots Type S/C'er found on a Cobra, Cobalt SS, etc... So, the sound is not a Whine in that since.

Very nice! Next step... NST 65mm Pulley for roughly 9.5psi and another 20-25whp from a $95 modification

I like looking at it as dollar per horsepower instead.
I paid $1900 for my SC brand new then installed it myself which means I only paid $31.60 per horse power (1900/60hp). A Dezod S1 turbo kit at $3975.00 good for 100hp would be $39.75 per horsepower (3975/100hp) not including install labor (if needed).
I consider my particular experience with going forced inducted as very cheap.
Not to mention my 06 SC isht the bed as expected and TRD still replaced it with a redesigned unit even though it wasn't installed by a dealer in the first place. Warranties are a beautiful thing.

You know that you can easily pull the ECU out yourself and UPS it to TRD Sparks who will reflash it for $80 and send it back. Thats what I had to do because not a single dealership in the upstate NY area had the TRD reflash tool.

what so your getting a turbo now? You know you cant do anything with that intake of yours if your running a turbo and 750 or 500 for a turbo is a bit eh...your gonna need a lot more then a turbo.
