Timing with Built Motor.
Just wondering how much timing my fellow scioners have in their tunes, built or not im just curious, mike said he used 16 degrees in his street tune today on 14 lbs and i was like wtf isnt that alot? obviously timing is where the power is to be had not just the fuel map, so whats everyones tune look like in the timing regards?
Ill be running 22 lbs with a aem water/meth injection and greddy ultimate.. im wondering how much timing i should be running to make some good power... whats Safe and when does it start to get unsafe for a daily driver?

It depends on the car, mods, and tuner. Some tuners will push harder than others and they have the necessary tools to check for knock better than the OEM sensor. Who is tuning it for you and what management?

a basic rule of timing is you pull 1 degree per psi! Thats just to get ur to a decent igntion map! once ur there you can play..
and i can tell you.. 14 psi + 16 degrees of timing with 200 treadware tires = 3rd gear smoking the tires! and im super rich 11.0

Add timing is called advance timing and pull timing is called retard timing. Retarding timing will loose power and increase combustion temps but prevent knock if you are having knock.

Exactly what blacknight said.. for piggybacks often you do retard coz the stock ignition map is gonna be too advanced being a N/A tune.. but it is usually a balance between fuel and ignition, you can go aggressive on fuel but with conservative ignition or vice versa. If your tuner didnt mess with the ignition tune, probably he tuned more on the rich side but should be good as long as you dont get any knocks and makes good power
