Treadstone Kit In, Pics (1,2,5) Vids (5)
Dont get a uni-chip.
I plan on buying this kit and I plan on using the AEM f/ic for tuning. And yes, the pressure sensor would help the tuner.
It will all come down to the tuner and how good he is. I already have a great tuner lined up. He is huge in the subaru and evo community and has an AWD mustang dyno and he is located in Torrance.... a lot closer to you guys than me. Anyhow he tuned my wrx and I loved it.
I already told him about this kit on the tc and the AEM f/ic and he said "LETS DO IT".
I wouldnt "partially" install the kit, just do it right and get a good confident tuner.
Jrod pm me if you would like info on the tuner... Ill go down with you if he tunes you, id like to see the results.

What is the tuners name? Are you referring to Churches? Or Bubba (Do It Dyno Performance)? I was running the emanage to tune my car, but it was just a POS. I would like to go with you when you tune your car with the F/IC. i"m thinking of picking one up. And Shawn church was tuning my car in the past.
I see. No the guy im talking about is mainly a subaru guy but he also tunes evos, g35's, and 350z's. I spoke to him about my upcoming project and he was happy to say yes he would do it. At this point he hasnt tuned a tc but I know 1st hand he is a great tuner and he made my wrx sex! lol
I dont want to throw his name and shop out there because like i said hes really only a subaru and evo tuner and wouldnt want a bunch of others calling but if I were to go with you, he would tune you i guarantee it.

Well by "partially" i meant just leave out the injectors and MAF stack, the kit still would go on normally.
Not trying to be a nay-sayer but i'm sure this guy that tunes Z's,WRX's and G's is a real pro and confident enough to take on any car...but he prob never dealt with a toyo(post supra) ECU

Well i have full faith in him. All parameters with fuel/boost/timing are basic and with software and a dyno it doesnt really matter too much the car.
Plus sti's have variable cam timing so im not worried about the vvti and also i hear from a lot of sti members that their "drive by wire" throttle hesitation is gone after his tuning so thats a huge plus cuz our throttle response sucks big ****. Anyhow thats my tuner... im not saying it needs to be everyones lol its just that they are only 1 city away from him thats all.

interesting thgoughts. Maybe that is why liltroublesm's ECU got fried when they plugged the Greddy in with his treadstone kit.
Oh, and Kydog, my tuner does mostly hondas, but has evos, sti's, even vettes and VWs, but my tC was his first, and my F/IC was his first, so he's still learning.
Just don't be discouraged if your guy doesn't get it on the first whack. Take it back a couple times and I'm sure he'll get the hang of it. Our cars are...different.

the idea got in my head when i realized "how" treadstones MAF flange was "different" than every one else's. Its a bit of engineering genius how they have it set up with those particular injectors, their cycle must be similar to the TC's stockers, the MAF sits up high only partially in the intake stream, the ECU reads only slightly above normal intake levels so injector duty stays pretty much the same and the higher flow of the injectors keeps it just about right(prob a tid bit rich to stay safe),so this is a closed kit a piggy back style EMS could only throw a wrench in the gears(i could be wrong thought, like jrod said maybe the key is tuning through the pressure sensor)
mind you this is only speculation i could be way off...
I don't think their kit even needs something for partial throttle like Dezods BB.
funny treadstone says you can boost higher than 9psi only on race gas or with a pro tune, I wonder if timing may have some thing to do with this...

how close does the turbine housing sit to the engine block? and what size is your turbo?
i got a 60-1 turbo and i feel like im going to run into problems with the treadstone manifold as it might hit the engine block =/

-Our cast manifold will work with any T3/T4, not 100% sure on the larger S comp cover with 4" inlet
-gt3076 will fit
-Unichip tunning is in the works as an upgrade to our kit
^^^ thats straight from a treadstone post, hope that helps you, but they do go on to mention "slim fans"
jrod...
i'm looking at all possibilities angles and scenarios while i put the money together to get this kit, i'm sure you've heard me say in other posts i'm really leaning towards a EMS-less set up, 270-80 hp at9psi with 2.5 catback exhaust and clutch upgrade sounds damn good for everyday driving and the option to boost in the teens with race gas at the track...not too shabby(now i just need the loot
woo. it confused me hahah
but, cool. it's gonna fit. the gt3076 and the 60-1 are pretty much the same size.
60-1 is a 2.75 inch radius all the way around the compressor and the gt3076 is a 2.99 inch radius
soooo, we will say gt3076 = 6 inch across
60-1 = 5.5
YAY ITS GONNA FIT
-whew, load off my back. bwahha

sorry for the delay but my computer is getting hooked up on monday at the new apartment so I will have everything done at that time. Buuuut here is the only problem im running into. The coupler that fits the turbo under the body that goes to the intercooler, well either the pipe is bent wrong or something doesnt match up and everytime i go full boost the damn pipe comes off. So right now Im working on getting that fixed, just orderd some longer hoses and gonna do something custom with it. but other than that the kit is running great. going to the dyno and getting it tuned in mamaroneck, ny soon as my friend gets back from the navy. so keep up i will update very soon
Installation:
Alright considering there were no instructions and just had to go by whatever, this didn't even turn out as bad as we thought it would. Now I'm just gonna list the little problems and set backs we had to go through so you guys can use that for future reference when buying this kit.
-The turbo had to be clocked
-While putting the manifold and the turbo on, we had to take the fans completely off to make it fit in there. Dont know if that really has to be done but it definatly did with ours. There is a allen key bolt that is on the down pipe, the one that goes on the bottom, that is a _____ to turn once you cant get the allen key in there anymore.
-On the stock fans, I had to cut the plastic pieces that stick out so the turbo can rest nicely in there. Nothing hitting the fans but it is close so I just had to make some room.
-On the piece that goes to the oil sending unit where people had a problem getting that into the block, we just used the flare side and everything else connected the way it was supposed to.
-The oil inlet flange snapped in half while torquing it down because they sent me some aluminum or die cast somethin piece of ____ that just split while barely tightening it down so I had to order another one from them and the right one came in. I talked with Jason and he sent me to the tech guy and the guy told me to send the broken piece in a bag so they can send out the new one.
-Intercooler pipes on the passenger side was not lining up at all really to the turbo or the intercooler. probably my mistake somewhere but couldnt figure it out so I just held up the intercooler pipe so it would cover the turbo completely, jack it up to hold it in place tight and that problem was fixed.
That was basically the only problems we ran into so no big deal. Took time and patients but now things is right and I'm loving it. Spools up very quick, bov sounds real nice, hits quick and will put you back in ya seat a little for only 5 psi right now. Well enjoy the install pics and soon i will have some videos for you and the dyno will be done early next month. Any questions just ask me
