Okay guys i know this isnt really scion related but i need some help. My girlfriends got a 2000 volvo and i think the seals got blown on the factory turbo cuse it has well over 100,000 miles.

Does anyone know a shop in florida that can repair the factory turbo so she doesnt have to get a whole new one cuse itl cost her i guess like 900 for a new one.....

Im tired of driving her around everywhere so pleaaasseeee give me some help!!

I live in the palm harbor, pinellas area so any shops in clearwater st. pete or tampa would be great!!

 

have you talked to the volvo dealership there? even if they will rape u cost wise, sometimes the techs are nice enough to point you in a direction that will save you alot of money...

 

yeah i have and im not really getting any help. Their just telling me that noone else can do it and i need to buy a whole new one...

yeah dealers replace parts, anyway you could salvage from a junkyard or maybe try a turbo with close spec.. but yeah if you dont have anyone close, those are your best bet

 

dude its only an hour and a half from where you are. it might be worth the trip, or maybe call first. dunno.

you could send it off to have it rebuilt........just a thought

 

yeah i thought about that but i need it sooner than later.

I called a buddy of mine and he recommended this place so i called and they said it would be around $700 to repair it assuming nothing else is wrong....

Does this seem a little overprice seeing that i can get a brand new turbo at the ferman dealership for $930?????

 

it does seem high from what iv heard others getting theirs rebuilt for but iv never had to do it as of yet.

 

i know most ppl just buy rebuild kits online and do it themselves, pretty easy, but idk where they buy them from, srry.

 

wait a minute am i the only one that sees that a stock volvo turbo is costing the guy 900 dollars?

an upgrade for a mitsubishi 50 trim costs 500~

my suggestion? do research and buy an upgraded turbo, not one too big though, it honestly should cost you about 300 dollars

 

slap a GT35R on the thing! lol
