TurboCharging Your A/T (The Official End ALL Sticky)
nothin broadening my horizons.. ive been strictly clubsciontc for almost 2 years.. bout time i left home and find somewhere else comfortable.. trying to find out some more info on the auto kits and such.. im just scared to drop 6k for a kit and not be as fast as i wanted..
You shouldn't have a hard time getting those numbers with any kit. Personally I woul reccomend TT's basik kit..there is a couple threads for it on the forced induction section.
If anything though invest in a transmission cooler and a good tune...as long as your pushing about 240-250whp you shouldn't have any transmission problems...I would still reccomend a valve body upgrade down the road but for the time being invest in a transmission cooler.

ya it was down to dezods s1 kit (especially cuz its 3.7k with management on sale right now) and TT stage 1 kit (around 3.5k but with no manage and no injectors, but todd could prob throw somethin together here) ill have to read up on the basik.
well the TT basik kit comes with injectors and engine managment (AEM FI/C) and harness and all that runs about 3500..if you can grab dezods kit while its on sale go for it but otherwise the TT basik kit to my knowledge now is being made ONLY for us auto guys
Yeah, I spoke with Todd (Turbotoyotas) this weekend cause a local girl want's her auto boosted, and he was recommending the basik because the smoother flowing tubular manifold is easier for the Auto to take, compared to, say, his "simple" kit with the log style mani.
Also, he said the specs on the turbo for the basik kit are well suited to the shift points on the auto tranny on the tC.
That's why he decided to make the Basik kit just for Autos, while manuals get the simple and the staged kits.

I still can't decide if I want to stay N/A or go turbo...and it doesn't help my decision when TT releases a kit like the basik kit! lol I'm still debating on keeping the tc..make it look nice..then buy a 2nd car thats a mt and mess with that or just boost my auto..

Although I think its great that TT made a kit just for the autos..my main concern with turboing an auto is reliability..and having a kit manufactured around that I think is a great selling point

ok noob here but it seems that everyone is talking comparing zpi and dezod and now TT but how do they stack up against turbo kits from greddy and turbonetics. basically my question is: if hypothetically money was no issue for me then what would be the absolute best choice for a turbo kit for a/t?
TT and dezod are the only choices...ZPI is dead, greddy has the internal wastegate issue, turbonetics comes with managment that no one can tune.
So, down to TT and Dezod...does not matter how much money you have cause the stock auto tranny is only good for 230whp or so, and both kits can put out more.
That being said, the EL mani on the TT kit gives a smoother deleivery better suited for an auto tranny...
