My manifold has developed a large crack in the center weld. I know it can be rewelded but the manifold has a jet hot coat on it. What would the recommended process be to weld the crack?
I will be using a TIG welder

Grind down to bare metal, than weld. I had a crack develope in my ceramic coated downpipe (something hit my spipe HARD) and i had to grind the coating off down to metal to get a good weld. After that I hit it with some VHT to try to make it blend in, it still looks off but better than a bare weld :/

 

you need to remove any coatings before welding
