does anybody own one yet? i just wanted to know if it works pretty good and if you guys have those clean new ipod cables hooked up to your ipod =) and also what cable do i need to buy so that i can still use the steering wheel buttons thanks

 

In my opinion the new 2006 models suck. I am a HUGE alpine fan but they got rid of motorized face plates, remote controls and a lot of cool features I like. (I sell all these at work) For the steering wheel controls you are going to need PAC SWI-ALP. This is the steering wheel control interface and it goes for 59.99 on crutchfield. It is compatible with decks such as CDA-9851, CDA-9853, CDA-9855, DVA-9865, DVA-9860, CDA-D853, CDA-D855, and CDA-D857. Im not too sure about the new ones. IMO get the CDA-9851 this is the one i picked up and never had a problem with it... I never liked the touch glide on the other CDA-9853 or CDA-9855

 

I have the CDA-9855 and i love it, so many options, motorized face, kind of expensive though..cheapest is around 340$ for the deck

Has the touch glide messed up on you? in the summer my displays would be all messed up and it wouldnt work.

 

I have the 9851 and I love it. I have had Alpine decks since the late 80's and IMO they have the best sound of any deck.

i just so happened to put the the new CDA 9856 in a trailblazer today, along with the new ipod adpt, whatever the model number, its nice cause it charges the ipod now.. and seems to work a lot better with the new deck..

i happen to like SOME of the new decks.. the one i still want to see is that 1400 dollar ... uh.. DVA 9865 i think it is... its the only deck that kept the glide touch.... which in my experience... people either hate it ... or love it.. but this deck is also DVD capable and such... so yeah.. the 51,53,and 55 are still in my book some of the best decks out there...

 

i plan on getting the CDA-9857. Looks pretty kool. it comes out next month.

I WAS thinking of getting the IVA-W200. But too much for me.

Alpine is top of the line

 

The IVA-W200 shouldnt be too much money for what it is... I believe it is around 1200. Its a sweet double din screen, then Alpine is comming out with their GPS system called the blackbird. Coll thing about this is you can buy a docking station and hook it up to any screen and have the GPS go through the screen... then take it out and put it in your next car.

I am all about the 9835 or older alpines When they went mass market in 06 selling to best buy etc.. quality went down the tubes. Check around the car audio forums for lists of issues... Alpine is working the issues out but they should not have been there in the first place.

Had issues with the face plate freezing, cd's not ejectring, ect... Sometimes reset button fixed the issues, most of the time it had to be sent in.

I just got the IVA-W200. That deck is sweet! The ipod interface links right up and u can use the touch screen to view through the playlists, artists, albums, and song names. I love the pulse thing that feels like a button when u touch the screen. No issues with it so far. Comes with the remote so I dunno y ppl are complaining about no remotes. It never freezed up or anything on me knock on wood
