I got 100 sq ft of the .45 mil.........8 sq ft of the v4.........and was given a gallon of the paint on in trade for a stock battery........total cost with shipping was $139.........but I put a lot on........I think a person could do 75 sq ft and be jsut as happy.....I stillhave to do the hatch but I gotta buy like a few more feet to do it.........it makes a differance in sound at volume.......no rattles at all except the hatch......which I am sure is the plate........or the passenger taillight........LOL

 

how much do you think i need if i want to deaden the hatch and front doors

 

Each door took like 15 ft and the hatch takes like 8........the shiping cost is what gets you .......to do the back floor was 20 ft and to do each back side was at least 20 ft each side.......

So to do the hatch and doors 40 ft used correctly woudl make a big differance.......my back of the car is painted with two coats and then covered in .45 mil so it is very deadened........I was lucky to get the can of paintable stuff.........that saved me a lot of money and time..........just be sure it is warm if you use it or it is slow to dry.

 

i was thinking of buying 2 gallon of edead v3 paint and some other deaden

 

the paint goes a long way............I stillhave over a quart left......and it is on thick........2 gl the car would be very quiet inside.........LOL

 

2 gallon is just the beginning haha...when i get more cash it'll be deaden more since ima have a vented 13av.2 in there running on a nine.1

well after the sub i'll be done for a while since sub, amp, box, edead, and avic-d3 pretty much killed my cash so maybe by christmas or so i'll get some 6500 or something

ok i've had the D3 for a while and love it. But how in the heck do u make it not dim when u turn the headlights on? I know there is a way to do it.

Why is it that there are times that I can't type certain addresses in? Like, the alphabet or numbers or dimmed so I can't press it. Could it be that the address can't find it on the navi? It gets annoying when you're trying to find a place and it won't search for you or it'll give you the wrong direction.

 

sounds like either a bypass problem (if you are moving) or that address just doesn't show up (since it uses predictive text).

 

It could be that the address just doesn't show up. The predictive text thing sucks =(

 

EDIT: VSS is hook up, 3d hybrid setting, and unit is about 90% calibrated. had unit for about 4 weeks.

i have 3 questions regarding the d3. i tried asking on avic411.com but no one seems to know.

1) there are a few songs on my ipod that sound very distorted when played on the d3. it kinda resemembles when you turn the music up really high and you can't really hear anything besides static. i tried turning the eq setting on the ipod off and messed around with the sound setting on the d3 but no luck. it's only a few songs though and it's always that song. i think it's the just the recording of the song and that it has nothing to do with the d3.

2) sometimes when i start up my car, the d3 unit does not turn on. i can hear the unit running and the fan running, but no picture. but if you wait like 20 seconds or so, the unit will finally begin to start up or if you turn the car off and back on, it'll start up right away. the problem with this is say that the unit doesn't turn on, but i'm already backing out of my driveway and drove 2 blocks down, well once the d3 starts up, it doesn't recognize that i'm already 2 blocks down from my house. it'll still put the arrow at my house as if i haven't moved. so when i 'm driving, the whole navigation gets screwy because it's in the wrong location. only way to fix that is if i manually define my location or reset the d3. but even resetting the d3 sometimes does not work. it would put my location in los angeles and it would never return back to where i am. that leads to my 3rd question.

3) when you reset the d3, how come it does not return you back to where you are? it keeps putting me in los angeles when i'm not. i'm not even in that state. i don't know how i got it to finally return me back to my current location though. arrow does move though.

any insights on those problems?

did you do the bypass for the parking brake........mine did that the first four days and now it works perfect.
