If you are on a budget head over to CarAudio find something used...I got a few stuff there used for very very very cheap, example 17ft of monster cable 1/0gauge powerflex for $20 shipped....

...so then please tell me the size box needed.

the newer JL W7 13" requires a larger than normal box.

a type 3 box

2.375ft required which will take up nearly all of the cargo space in a tC

Let me dumb it down a bit for you
12" sub since all other manufactures uses that size....

12w7:
Sealed box-1.375cuft
Ported box- 1.75cuft

SS RL-p:
Sealed box-1.35cuft
Ported box-1.85cuft

eD 13Av.2:
Sealed box-1.3-1.5cuft
Ported box-2.0-2.2cuft

Most DDaudio 12"subs:
Ported box at least 2.5cuft

I can go on forever. The box size listed for the all mighty W7 is about equal to all other 12" subs out there. There are some subs that require more airspace. You're acting like this sub needs to perform in an IB application or something.

That is for a ported box enclosure...quite frankly anything that is suppose to move that much air, that box is a little small.

If you want to use the smaller box, I would reccomend the JL Audio 10w3 with the 250/1 amp. I have it in my car and it is very crisp and clean. I drive an IS300 which you know has a trunk. It sounds awesome in a tC!!! The 10w7 is by far the best 10" sub you can get but can be excessive.... If you want something clean and crisp, go with the 10w3 and 250/1 combo. Make sure you get a bass **** installed so you can adjust the bass on the go. The sub will cover a lot of different ranges and the **** will allow you to adjust between hip-hop and rock type of music or whatever you listen to. Just my opinion!

like i said before, jl is coming out with a slim design of sub.. should be coming out in feb early april if all goes as planned... they hit just as hard and are pretty slim... BUT if you want to go cheaper rockford fosgatge has some 10 inch punchs that are slim and they sound great, my uncle has 2, they are only like 5-6 inches thick but weigh about 25 pounds a piece they are nice
