Looks like you need a mono class D 1000x1 @ 1ohm amp... Those subs are 500RMS each and depending on how you have them wired, you might be getting 200 rms each...

What kind of budget are you looking at for a single amp??

Hifonics is a good inexpensive brand....

Well i want to keep it kinda cheap, but at the same time, I want to be able to pop my trunk and have mouths drop, not have them laugh at me. Im gonna put both amps up for sale, and put that money towards a new one.

I was thinking about this Alpine amp

Open for any and all suggestions.

Thanks

This amp will push those speakers more than that alpine and it's cheaper.... with subs, you won't even be able to tell any difference except they'll get louder....

and it's only $220

Quite an amp you picked out there. My friend has a 'Son of Boltar' amp. The only reason I picked the alpine was to match the system and I get a discount at BB.

If anyone else has some suggestions I will gladly take them. But this looks like a great amp to me.

Thanks for the info,
T.J.

Red flag.... this is in the description for your alpine amp...

"400W RMS (continuous) x 1 @ 2 ohms, 12V, 20-200Hz, 0.3% THD

250W RMS (continuous) x 1 @ 4 ohms, 12V, 20-200Hz, 0.3% THD

600W RMS (continuous) x 1 @ 2 ohms, 14.4V, 20-200Hz, 0.3% THD "

If you have 2 dual 4ohm subs, you need an amp that puts out 600-1000 watts RMS x1 @ 1ohm.... that amp will only push 400x1 @ 2ohm mono.... the 600x1 is at 14.4v and isn't accurate...

First of all, i just want to thank you for being extremely helpful. Second, I just wanna make sure Im gonna be looking for the right thing when Im looking for an amp. I am looking for power rated at 1 ohm. For example...

RMS Power Rating: 1600 watts x 1 chan. @ 1 Ohm

(Brutus Amp) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=18797

So if i were to pick this amp because of power, this would be just what I am looking ?

That's correct.... you're looking for Xwatts x1channel @ 1ohm

I probably wouldn't go over 1000 watts on those subs though..

Even if that 1000Watts is split between the subs? Ahh, nevermind (500Watts RMS X 2). Well anyway i got the Bestbuy Protection plan, so i can blow them all I want for the next 3 and a half years and get them replaced for free. And i guess i can always turn the amp down.

When you say "turn the amp down", do you mean the gain?? if so, you don't want to do that because it will cause clipping of the signal going into the amp and possibly blow your subs... If you're talking about at the bass ****, yeah that'll work.... as long as you're not playing bass test CD's too hard you should be fine..

One last question, im sure ill have to dig my book out for this one...

How would i wire these subs for a 1ohm load??

Correct me if i am wrong, but if i wire it in a series, i would get a 2 ohm load, and if i wire it paralled i would get a 8 ohm load (Since they are 4 ohm subs).

So, shouldnt i look for an amp with rms rated at 2ohms instead of 1ohm?

Each sub is a DUAL voice coil 4 ohm.... meaning each sub has 2 4ohm VC's.... wire each sub independantly in parallel to make each sub 2 ohm total... then parallel the 2 subs together to get 1ohm.... like this
