2 4" bolts, 1 3" bolt...well...it was a 4"er but I cut the end off

There's some in progress shots, but my normal host is down and SL only gives 300K so I'm at my limit.

Yeah yeah...he'll be measuring when I move my back seat out of the hatch

Before:

After, take note of the new hole drilled on the bottom right of the speaker mount:

Mounting board:

Didn't feel like cutting any other metal yesterday...so I remade the MDF baffle a few times before getting the right size

I saw this car yesterday and it is insane. He pulled the panel off to show everyone the hidden amp so it does fit behind the rear panel. He had the skeleton in the back for his million speakers as well. I can't wait to see this car finished.

Gotta love people willing to put that kind of effort into their car.

It worries me that the nuts will come loose and it will rattle. That, and if you ever want to adjust the level or filters on the amp, you have to pop off the wall. But I must say, bravo on making it work.

Lock nuts on everything.

PLUS...I made the 3 holes ever so slightly off center so it's also slightly torqued in there. I punched it a few times and it wouldn't budge.

Yes...it's scary punching a big sheet of wood at the outside of your car ;)

As far as settings, Eclipse 8443. 8V out, if I touch the gain on the amp leads to clipping. Everything else I handle right out of the HU. I honestly wish our amps had no x-overs/bass boost on them, just not a fan of 'em.

Excellent choice on the HU, that's what I chose and it does very well for me!

the only thing i dont like about it..

what if the amp ever goes bad... or you feel that you want to adjust... or for some reason you want to get at the amp...

sounds like way too much of a pain in the **** to me.... looks cool... just something i more than likely wouldnt do...

^^ when your entire trunk is going to be engulfed with 32 6.5" speakers, you've gotta find someplace innovative to hide them babies...

From full interior to gutted for me, less than an hour. To get just that panel off, maybe 10 minutes.

As mentioned previously, I NEVER use amp adjustments. Plus...when you've got a midbass on one channel and a component set on the other channel, can't really have common x-overs.

Really no reason ever to touch the amp.

Interesting. How about heat issues? If you're putting the panel back on wouldn't there be little to no ventilation?

That area is joined to the rear of the car for ventilation, where the recirculate vents are.

Plus, air can get in through the speaker hole...once the back is sealed up, air will be forced across the amp
