Can an amp go behind the rear panels...Answer Inside....
you dont have to mount em on your kickpanels....liable to get...well..kicked...if you push them up behind the glovebox, you can hold em up there with some zip ties. thats what i did with mine. or you can try drilling them to the door or something....but i think its plenty safe enough tucked up behind the dash. zm_br, im puttin the same EQ in, do you normally adjust your volume from the head unit....i thought it said in the clarion manual to always adjust the volume with the EQ's ****....?
I adjust from the head unit since it's on the steering wheel. I have a Massive EQ in my other car, and it seems like the Volume **** is very touchy, so I don't bother with it. But, that could just be the brand. Really, I don't think it makes a huge difference. Adjusting by either HU or EQ will give you close to the same results.
Oh, and I mounted my crossovers on the kick panel since i already had my EQ mounted down low.

i just guesstimated about an inch and a half around each side of the amp, and i drilled new holes for the bolts. i didn't care really how the bolts or wood looked since it's going to be behind the panel and hidden from view.
So no one is having heat issues with this install?
I installed my Nine4 there but after about 20 minutes of play, the heat protection kicks in. I am still using rear speakers and it has been hot as hell here lately but I really like this location. I mounted a couple fans yesterday, so I'll see if that helps. Could having the rear speakers still in block enough air to make it overheat?

Problem solved:
I just found out that the Nine4 is not 1ohm stable. I was running the 9kv D2 in parallel. Seriously overworking the amp. Rewired it to series at 4ohm so should have no problems now. At least I know the heat protection circuit works and I have only had it installed for a couple days and haven't pushed it hard.
