Can an amp go behind the rear panels...Answer Inside....
I know this is an old thread but I was wondering if doing this was possible and I searched and sure enought found this thread.
Has anyone else done this other than Chris? Any how-tos? What tools did you need, supplies? How about the size of the board, I know you didnt measure it, anybody else? Im not good at attempting things on my own I get nervous, being a new car and all. I want to conserve as much trunk space as possible and if anyone walks by my car they wont see anything out of the ordinary.

I know a couple other people have done it...but haven't seen any walkthroughs.
Basically, board size = big enough to fit your amp mounting feet + overlap the metal slightly.
Tools, I used 4" carriage bolts and washers/nuts for attaching...got a drill as well to put the hole in the metal.
That's really about it...it's nothing really that you can mess anything up, other than use a little extra wood accidentally

Where you bolted the board to the car, did you just have to drill the one hole by the speaker? Any idea how far the board is mounted from the side of the car? Is it basically in between the car and the panel?
I think this is a really great place for an amp and if I go and try it without asking all these questions first Im gonna get agravated and end up going to Circuit City and have them install it in the hatch. Not really but you get the idea. Im sure you understand.

The hole near the speaker part is the only one I drilled...there were the two others already in there.
The board is about 3.5" in from the metal where the bolts mount...I dunno exactly, basically far enough to not dent the metal on the outer skin

im working on getting this thing into my car right now....chris...i gotta say...how about selling a "tC rear panel hidden amp mount" for 9.2's and 9.1s? (they both would obviously work for 9.2x's and 9.4's as well)....it seems to be gaining interest...and honestly...i have no friggin clue how im gonna build this thing so if anyone gets the exact dimensions on this thing figured out lemme know....pictures would help to point out where each dimension is since it probably wouldnt be just 2 dimensions.
I'd sell it...if I knew how the hell I did it
Went through about 4 chunks of wood before fitting it. I'll see if I can't get Courtney's car in here one weekend and play around with it.

While you're at it you might also consider an amp board for the spare tire location. I know it is just a piece of wood w/o any brackets, but it would just make it easier for those folks w/o power tools. The smallest sheet of wood at lowe's is at least 3x bigger than what you need for the spare tire! Or maybe you guys can 'throw it in' as a bonus for those folks that buy an amp or tc slim box? Just a thought...
i went to home depot, picked up a 25 dollar jigsaw, a 6 dollar 48x28" mdf board and drew a 16ish inch circle on the board and cut...that one's really not all that bad. this amp is a b!tch though. if do it tonight and get dimensions ill let you guys know what they are. im throwin in a nine.2x. ps, chris, if i order stuff ON feb. 1st, will i still get the discount or is it only by jan. 31st?

I mounted this using two brackets I bent at work, they are pretty much custom bent, even though I had to use longer bolts with spacer to set it far enough back so it didnt rub the panel. Definately trickier than the project looks. I also drilled 4 new holes b/c I still have the rear speakers.
P.s. my Stealth box just came today. SO EXCITED!!
