Default Code Alarm - CA650 Remote Starter issues

I recently had the CA650 remote starter/ security system installed in my '05 tc. The starter works fine, great range. When i start the car via the remote, I lose the ability to lock/unlock my doors by remote.

I took this problem to the technician who installed the system on my car, and he said theres no way around this. I can either pres the unlock button on my remote, which disables security, and then use my key to unlock my drivers side door. OR use the remote to turn the car off, and then I can unlock my doors via remote.

Doesn't this totally defeat the purpose of having a remote starter with remote door locks.

If the installer had told me about this issue in the first place, I wouldn't have purchased the starter. I don't know if I can return it, since it has already been installed. This sucks and I'm ____ed!!

Any one know about this system at all? I'

Yeah, that is an issue that anytime your ign. switch is powered up via the remote starter or the ign key, your factory wireless functions shuts down. That's the way the factory door lock systems are designed around safety reason which I don't understand. I'm not too sure about the Code alarm/RES kit, but with some of the other aftermarket ONE button remote transmitter starter kits, you're able to unlock the doors when the engine is running in remote start mode. The kits I usually install requires you to press and hold down the same ONE button transmitter for the remote start function for 5 seconds to unlock the doors. This, of coarse, only happens when your car is running from the RES module and not from the ign. key. I'd try this procedure first. If it don't work, then either the installer forgot to hook up the door lock wires from the RES module or the entire kit just works entirely different from the one's I'm familiar with.

Good Luck.

i am somewhat familiar with the code stuff and the locks should work when in remote start mode... they wont work when started with the ign key like scionosis previously stated.. so if the locks aren't working after you remote start it.. there's something wrong... either the brain is bad or its improper installation....
