I have done what others have said is impossible! Behold:


Sizing things up.


The Gear.


Step 1: Remove the stock sub.



The old Amp.


Will it fit?


Step 2: Test Fit.


Step 3: Remove the box.


The stock wires are nicely labeled.






Step 4: Relocating the wires.


Step 5: Run the wires through the box.



Step 6: Wire it up. (I chose to use the speaker inputs over the RCA's from the head unit preamps since I already have the adapter up front.)







All Finished and ready to slam, now I need to track down all the rattles this has uncovered...

LOUD, but I got her tweaked pretty good and its a nice balance with the stock speakers and alpine 9853 headunit. Mathematically it should hit 3x harder than stock and thats how it feels, perfect for what I set out to achieve.

 

Nicely done! Could you maybe have hid the amp underneath the sub in that little foam thingy? It would look a little cleaner that way IMO. Now if only we could buy the sub box alone!

also just out of curiosity, why didnt you mount it in the cargo area underneath the trunk panel?

 

I wanted the amp out in the open for two reasons, heat and the fact that it lights up blue will compliment my future lighting plans for back there.

 

Looks pretty sweet! I would definitely re-run those amp wires, just to hide them a little better.

i did this with a kicker sub a whiles back-much better than the bazook setup. the bazooka's amp is the size of a friggin palm pilot. the only thing i did differently was to have the port hole sealed up. there's a lot of space inside that enclosure and i wanted to tighten up the sound a little bit.

 

Any decent amps you could fit inside that thing that would still run somewhat cool?

the thing is deep as hell and has alot of space, but i still wouldn't recomment putting an amp inside the enclosure-first off, there's not a lot of space, second, there's gonna be a lot of rattling and vibration from the subwoofer, which may or may not mess up the amp. it might not cause any problems, but who wants to chance it.

 

does the cover still go on or is the sub too big... haha imma do this when mine blows too =) or when i feelin that i need more bass.... which might be soon.... time to crank it up!

 

I didnt try but from the looks of it I think that would be a negative...Why would you want to cover up a nice looking sub anyways?

 

Any input with using the stock HU with the same sub and amp!!!! good idea - bad idea - would it help!!!

 

it will still be an improvement regardless, you can try to contact SCIONtific_tC, he has a stock deck and two 12" type S. But hes only pushing the amp 1/4 of the way and its way too much already.

 

I'd definitely seal up the port.... that enclosure SHOULD be tuned to the t/s parameters of the bazooka sub.... by swapping the sub out, it'll affect the sound.... sealing the box will allow it a larger range to attempt to accomodate whatever sub you decide to put in there...
