ebrake reminder

I actually found a product that chimes when driving with ebrake.

You would actually tap power from the steering colum so that when its out of park the buzzer goes off. That would be a harder mod but work like pefection.

The big chevy 5500 series has that in there cab. Its an annoying buzzer at that.

I would assume the fact its difficult to move, along with the strange creaking noises would cause a sane person to have a "wtf" moment and look at their dash first thing.

For the rest of us, we know that we probably left the handbrake up.

For me, I figure it out when I'm clutching out in gear and the car's not moving. Some autos won't move at all with the handbrake up... others do the brake creaking thing.

Regardless, its sort of hard to miss the big red BRAKE icon. A few misses when you're learning, along with a very rare occurence maybe once every few years or something is fine, but honestly, you shouldn't be making this mistake on a regular basis. Just get into the habit and try to be relaxed when you drive and you should be fine.

In an automatic, you could mash the gas, be off and not even realize it for a good distance. When you try to feather the clutch in a manual, you'll know pretty soon.
