Default Inside of Clock Display cracked..

I don't know what has happened to it, I felt the screen and it is not cracked so I don't know if the recent heat has caused it to crack or what has happened to it but I'm unsure what the cause could be. The rest of the HVAC lights don't work either, the display screen lights up until I turn the lights on and then it goes off, but the small button lights work. I don't think that I have done anything to cause this. I did install a NAV system a 3 weeks ago but it worked fine for a couple of weeks. I have noticed that the light behind my HAZARD button does not work, in fact I don't think it has ever worked. I didn't notice it until one of my friends pointed it out.

The only way i see that it could crack is if you tried to remove the LCD to do a led swap. There is a plastic cover that covers the LCD to protect it from the outside. Im not sure if the heat could do that. I've never seen heat nor sun do that at all. Only seen these crack when people do LED swaps incorrectly. Not sure man

If it wasnt taken apart, the only way I know is if something hit it or pushed on it (I have helped someone find a replacement for one because a friend of thiers pushed on it and broke it).

If you need a replacement HVAC I may be able to point you to a few good, cheap sources.

I had the same thing happen to me too. What about your lights? my lights did the same thing as yours when i installed my head unit. I took my car to the dealer and they replaced the main circuit board behind the display, but it didnt bring the lights back.

After that they blamed the wiring on the h/u because they found the - and + dimmer on the h/u hooked to the - dimmer on the after markt wire harness.

I dont know what to do either the dealer cost too much to have them find the problem so i just put some led lights shining on the display to see at night.

I wouldnt have wired two negatives w/ pos. But my (so called friend) did the wiring and f&*# it up.

If anyone has any sugestions how to fix this please help!!!!

P.S. My X friends father tried to fix it rigging up lights for behind the screen when he cracked the screen.

Sounds to me like your friend and his father have no idea what they are doing electrically and should stay as far away as they can from electronics. Wiring an H/U is not hard at all and you have to be not paying attention at all and not caring to crack the LCD screen from the back considering that it is in a plastic housing.

thats why he used to be a friend. After that happened his father acted like he didnt do it and wouldnt pay for the damages. so i told him to stay away and act like he never met me. I have no tollerance for people like those to ( 2 faced ***** Fu@!#*).

If you want something done right just do it yourself.

I hope someone on here could help me figure this crap out!

Well, if the wiring did fry it you can always find a salvaged hvac. If you had the leds swapped, I can help you find one and work in the swap for a good deal if you like What year model is it?
