HIFONICS BXi2006D Brutus 2000W Mono D Amplifier
your talking about band aid fixes SCI_TC_GUY and you want to advise this gut to "rewind" his alternator. thats a bad way to get more amps you should always purchase an alternator made for higher output. also if you think caps are a bad thing you should pick up the last issue of car audio mag. and read about the new rf amp with caps built in that runs more than 100% effeciency.

its called the rockford fosgate t15kw. here is a quote from the beggining of the article: "rockford fosgate has devoloped a new concept in amplifier design, which they unveiled at the 2006 consumer electronics show in the form of the attention getting t15kw the gist of this amplifier is to store ungodly amounts of wnergy, enabling to produce 15000 watts at greater than 100% effeciency." there is a 2 page article on this amp describing haow it works bu i'm not they gret of a typist so find it at rf or car audio mags website but it uses the same capacotors that are used in electric vehicles.
a good motor shop can rewind an alternator to effectively produce more output... any reputable shop will give you a warranty on their re-worked product as well... for 1/4 of the price of a H.O. alternator, you can have the same output.... if you've got the $$$, buy a H.O. alternator but I've always heard of people having problems with aftermarket alts... far fewer problems with a rewind that I've heard of from a daily driver... and yes, all amplifiers have capacitors in them...
ok, you have your opinion and i have mine. a cap is used because on 13.8 v charging system and with a regular battery when heavy bass hits the battery cannot release enough energy to sustain the note, capacitors are specificaly designed to release the juice faster it is a helpful item on a regular persons system. and as for the rewinding of alternators thats just wrong. go to any shop building a high output system or look at any factory built show car (i.e. alpine, mtx, kicker.) and see how many "reworked" alternators they use.
and on a bass note that's sustained longer than a few milliseconds, your cap will be drianed and you'll be pulling from the battery anyway.... cap discussions always lead to nowhere so I'm done with this thread..
