Fits fine? What is so horribly designed about it? I was planning on charging material costs + shipping + $10 for my trouble. Total of about $20 + shipping. Wasn't intending to make money, just wasn't going to post prices because I don't have vendor status.

Personally, I can't imagine having a foot and a half tall box in the back of my car, but on a lighter note, its cool that you wanna build sumthing with your own hand. I give you props for gettin off your ___ and doin sumthing to make money, but I think you should make a couple first to try your hand at it, and to see just what it will cost you to build one and how much profit you can make. Anyways good luck, and be patient. Peace.

1st... it looks like complete a$$...
2cnd... last time i checked the average for a full sheet of MDF is roughly 22 dollars.. and with your 40 cubic foot box its gonna need at least that full sheet... FTW mr engineer..
3rd.. to ship something the size of an refrigerator... its gonna be ridiculous...
4th... if you not here to make money... whats this 10 dollar fee.... hmmm.....

No reason to do it for free, find someone else that will make a box for $10.

alright...

going through your materials cost again..

MDF full 4X8 sheet.. 22 bucks
wood glue.. small bottle.. 5 bucks
air nails/screws.. 5 bucks..
liquid nail/silicone 8 bucks
carpet say 2 yards.. 30 bucks
spray glue... go with 8 bucks a can maybe 2 cans..

give or take... 75-100 bucks in materials...

straight up... not to put you down or anything.. but your an f'ing moron.. give it up kid... your box is a freakish nightmare... i could see a kid like you coming into my shop.. saying.." why do subs sound like crap?"... hmm... cause your box is big enough to house a small family.. jimmy carter is gonna ask you to build sub boxes for humanity....

believe it or not there actually is some math involved in building a sub enclosure... leave it to the pros...

Why do you keep going through material costs? I said material + shipping + $10. The math? Here's some, higher end 15s get really deep at about 4 cubes. Get off the rag and stop filling this thread up with your useless bi.tching.

^^The 15s in question could always have been some of these beasts..

Thanks for the two actually not flaming me. I'll work up some more "practical" designs. I'll try a ported one as well, but I'm not too amazing with the calculations. I like the sound of sealed better, so I do them more.

shipping a box that size from one side of the coast to the other side will cost roughly $90, I just checked it myself.
Your "material" cost will roughly cost $60. So for a total of $150shipped give or take a little bit.
But then again if I were to buy a box that expensive already I would pay to get top quality stuff like this:

For approx $160 shipped.
http://www.fishercustoms.com

OR

this guy here and spend a little more

http://www.woodlawncabinetry.com/

Both of those companies are well respected guys in the car audio community.

So if it was up to I, when buying a box I wouldn't buy from you.

$180 + shipping for a sealed 5 cube box from fisher without carpeting...

That's your choice, and after how much you've down talked me I wouldn't do business with you anyway.

forget the costs or what your going to charge.

Heres why no one with a quarter of a brain would buy that box:
1. Weight. That box with two subwoofers in it would weigh atleast 150lbs. easy.

2. Size. By stating at it would be a 9cu. box would mean that it's 4.5cu. for each chamber. Thats still 2-3.5cu (per chamber) larger than the average speaker's specifications. A box of that size would produce the same result as an infitite baffle design.

Constructive criticism: Learn the basics about subwoofers and box design before you come on here claiming to have the golden key.

how about we just scrap the thread and let him build a box...

It's really hard saying your going to sell something with just a drawing... you're gonna get flamed, that's just the reality of it...

It's not just you dude, it happens to everyone...

Don't get discouraged, just build the box, take a hella amount of pics, and then get some spl testing done to support the size... Also some weights would be nice...

I'll definitely build it. I know someone that can put it to good use locally if nothing else. I'll have to scrape together the dough for some woofers to meet it's needs though.
