ummmm... there is no amp man.... it's not a powered unit... if it did have an amp it'd definitely be above $800 though

Many people - myself included - don't like that about JL....You take a lot of the fun out of it.... s'pose that's part of being an audio fanatic...
The Stealthbox was designed for the "audio fanatic" most of the R&D time was spent analyzing the sonic signature of the vehicle to insure the perfect sub/enclosure combo that matches. If you really mean "what if I like to fabricate?" then feel free to make your own.

What? The Stealthbox does not buldge. Do you see a buldge in the picture? The floor is completely flat.

ok so u lose pretty much everything. including 3" of space, rear reclining and still have to relocate the tools. stealthbox yeah right.
Umm you lose nothing really. How much time do you spend reclining the back seats anyway? If it really causes a hardship for you, you can score underneath the floor board and the carpet will hold the piece in place and allow it to bend if you need that extra inch of recline.

And if i was putting a baby seat in my car what would u say? Is it wrong to have a kid and a sub?
I'd answer that for you, but you're not buying one anyway so

If I remember correctly, this enclosure replaces one of the oem storage bins, the Stealthbox doesa not. Also I'd expect a wooden enclosure that is not performance matched to the car to be cheaper. Wooden enclosures cost less for materials and is cheaper to make than fiberglass. Also, there is not as much R&D time in getting a sonic perfomance match (we don't charge you for that BTW)
When you back out the cost of the driver and the other pieces the fiberglass enclosure built by a company that's been in the business of making enclosures since 1975 is about the same as the one you mention. Add on the fact that the Stealthbox impacts the utility of the trunk less and is made from superior materials. My question would be, why is the OTHER option so expensive?

Huh???? it does fit...It's not called a Stealthbox for nothing!!!

this is the only one i really feel like commenting on because you're right. I have mad respect for JL i just don't think a stealth box should be something that big and lose 3" of room. i'm not going for stealth at all. in fact i'm going far from it.

for reference. But no i like JL stuff but i just don't justify spending that much on a woofer when in college. maybe someday when i graduate but not now.

Your local authorized JL Audio retailer can let you know what the sale price is. You dealer is the best source for pricing because he sets the actual selling price.

I am no longer a tC owner and I have moved away for Florida to Utah to run the Rocky Mountain Territory for JL Audio. I share this wiith you because I probably not be on here much anymore and I will probably not have much more to add to this thread.
For those of you who supported the idea from the begining, we at JL Audio thank you. If it were not for the feedback I received on this and other Scion forums, we would not have addressed this car. If you do decide to purchase a Stealthbox, we hope you love it.

For the haters that came by to share with us their brilliance....
