I just got a 5435 but when you give it power the display says, INSERT MAP DISC.... I'm wondering if just any map disc will work, or do I need the disc that came with the unit when it was new?? any help is appreciated greatly!!!!

everyone should throw in... and the person who pays the most keeps the original... and sends copies out... it's not like your making profit or anything... of everyone chip in and one person make all the copies... whoever copies then should keep the original... you can copy and sell... but they dont say anything about personal use...

yeah... i have the 5435 as well.. went and showed at a stadium show in canada had to disc the battery.... when hooked things up.. it asked for the mapdisc.. which i left at home... tried borrowing a friends map disc and it wouldnt work..... so had to drive home with no audio....

appears to be key coded i think... or i just needed to spend more time than i did to figure out out.... i just put borrowed disc in, turned power on/off etc.. and no go... we had same deck too...

will have to see if can aquire new disc some where

 

id put in up 200 to get the original copy so how many ppl would wanna go in on it?

 

i'd take an official original copy... something i just wont risk on a burned copy...
