The version I have is MDV-06D(1.4) it was release early 2006 and its updates are:

-Changes the firmware to use the GPS navigation only, not the speed sensor(so no longer a need to hook up a speed sense wire!!)
-Map scale is now 75 ft instead of 150 ft for easier navigation of intersections and turns
-Street Map now covers more than 50 main urban areas
-User customizable welcome screen
-Increased number of POIs from 5.4 million to nearly 6 million for the AVN5495 and 5.62 million for the AVN2454

There is a newer version that is MDV-07D that just came out and its updates are:
-POI category now increased to 8.55 million points
-City Maps cover more areas.

Everyone raves on these products.
Are these Eclipse head units just as good as Pioneer or Kenwood?

 

I think they are great I mean most of the Eclipse units have the exact same connectors as the factory Scions do...so really the only wire you have to worry about running a connection for is the parking brake wire! The Eclipse unit is also all self contained the DVD and CD have there own slots....I know on some of the Kenwood Units you had to run a seperate box for the DVD system...but this is just my $ .02

 

I know one of the Pioneer model Navi system will not play DVD video or
DVD-R / DVD-RW. Do these play any type of DVD media? Thanks

 

I have tried just about all the kinds of media in them and they do play them....the brand new ones I believe will even play MP3 DVD's!

 

I'm sorry to be asking all these questions but, I've been looking around for some time now for an in-dash Navi system. Couple of more question.

Features? Route guides? POI's? Voice recognition? I-Pod compatibility? Thanks again.

Anyone got any updates about the 2007 MDV-07D update disc, I called Eclipse and they have said it has been released to authorized dealers for order. ALSO has anybody tried the Map 3.0 disc that comes with the AVN6610 to see if it works in the AVN6600, maybe the update disc is the same as that one???? MAYBE worth a shot for anybody with the resources then we can help each other out.
