Default New Sub and Amp Settings Please?

I just got my sub and amp installed and I was hoping I could could some recommended settings for my head unit and amp. I have a 12 Alpine Type R, and a 500 watt Alpine MRP-M500 Amp. Is there anyone her with this setup or even this amp that can recommend some good sounding settings for me. When I say settings I am referring to the Gain, LPF, and Bass EQ. I admit I am a complete newb when it comes to amps. So please dont be hatin'!

Its all a personal preference, but to get you started use the lpf and start with the gain at 0. Depending on the music you listen to. will depend on what eq you want. If you listen to hip hop and and want really low bass. you put the eq to around 40hz . but if your like me and listen to hip hop, rock , electro. your safest bet is 100hz.
hope this helps

best thing to do is go through and set it up how you think you will want it on the amp, and then from there control the rest from the headunit regarding levels of mids, highs, bass, sub power and frequency, ect... usually i have my gain and bass boost set about the same level to match each other w/ the frequency about 45. but like i said just keep messing with it to see which you think sounds best as there are so many differen factors depending on box size, sealed or ported, upfiring or firing back, ect......

First thing you need to do is goto a 12v audio forum and in the search area put in "how to tune an amp"print it up and live by the directions,I know I have posted them here before too, tune the amp to the sub and you will enjoy clean loud music for a long time,......first rule is turn bass boost off and gain is not a volume ****,once you got that down and then you can burn tone disks and tune the amp.

A surefire way is to do just what you did. Shut yourself in the car and play around with it.

Don't make the lowpass less then 100. I would leave the gain on the amp on where it says "nom" for nominal or normal. I personally like to raise the eq around 80-100 to make music more punchier and less boomy.
