My car is going to be worked on for the rest of the week I'm getting the whole sound system upgraded by Simplicty. I can come out to the meets next Wednesday.

 

Can we get a splash without any words? I like the logo placement as is.

As for mic placement, I have the wire running behind the HU, underneath/ziptied to something under the steering column, running up the plastic kicker pieces/ rubber lining all the way to the airbag pillars, and the mic is hanging off in between the crevice between the pillar and headliner.

 

looks super clean, dont know if i could handle waiting a minute to listen to music but i was very impressed with the nav

As for the wait time... you just get used to it and ignore it. It's still annoying, but you just try not to notice.

Well hidden. Are you using the echo cancellation setting on the HU?

 

I dont think we have that echo cancellation setting at least not on the z1

as far as the 1+ min boot up time, does the system itself lag during use?
maps slow, music loading, ipod, anything?

it looks clean, i am deeply considering getting this unit.

There is a bit of a lag for the first minute or so after it finishes booting - but pretty good after that.

and it still does that? no firmware updates for it yt?

 

There was one firmware update... but I never got to use it before the update (mine came with it applied) so I'm just assuming that it was much worse.

 

ive heard a lot of car audio shops sending these back because of customer returns due to a lot of firmware issues and bugs...

is yours acting up in any way? i was really close to upgrading from my D3.

 

I have my mic on my Z2/3 right in front of my speedo/tach just over the steering column. I moved the call voice to the right side of the car and i turn the volume down on my phone and no one complains of echo. They do hear road noise if I'm driving more than say 55. I hear them just fine and they don't have an echo so it's great for me. I think the most important thing is having the volume right though not so much the placement. I did however have the mic in the cubby for a while and people complained that they couldn't hear me and road noise was worse there. The voice control also lacked in that spot. Now everyone says it's great. Just my $.02

 

I don't think I've seen any major issues or bugs. Yes, you can consider it "slow" to boot and such.... but again, it's Windows. What more do you want? I haven't noticed any other bugs outside of that. So I'm not sure what these people are returning them for.
