i am not a big fan of JL speakers... but the tone is what you are really looking for... the subs are great! there is something to be said for uniformity though... I went with type Rs all the way around, but I hate the amps! i would have bought infinity kappas if i had the money and did not get a discount on alpine

I'd suggest springing for components up front... since you're looking in to the top of the line JL sub, why not spend a little extra cash and get top of the line components... get the ZR650-CSi components up front and NOTHING in the rear... take all your soundstage and put it up front where it should be... alot of SQ competition vehicles use only 1 component set up front to give maximum imaging and staging the simplest way..

If I were to go with the components in the front where would you guys reccomend putting the tweeters? I was also considering Type R's if i didnt go with JL. So what do you guys think Type R's or ZR650-CSi's.

I assume you have a tC, since this is in the tC section... I'd suggest just using the factory locations... my JL VR650-CSi components are in factory locations and it has decent imaging/staging... if you wanted to do something more custom, having custom fiberglass kick panels would be flippin sweet..... or a little more extreme would be the XR 3way components with the mid in the door or kickpanel and the 3" and tweeter in fiberglass dash pod in the far corners...

I have stock rears.... depends on what you're looking for... IMO, I think a car with no extra rear-fill sounds the best... I don't even hear my rear speakers at all... but really it's up to you.... If you do want rear coax's, get the same model as the fronts (example: XR650CSi up front with XR650-CXi in rear)

Do you guys think the ZR650-CSis are worth the 500 bucks more than the Type Rs?

I agree there's no need for rear-fill speakers at all. For those that want them, I suggest not spending anything more, the stock rear speakers will suffice. For SQ competitors that do use them, they almost always limit the response to <2kHz, and ensure the amplitude is at least 6 to 9dB less than that of the front speakers. Placing tweeters in the rear and/or running the mids at >2kHz can ruin your front soundstage by sometimes causing some portion of the program material to sound like it's coming from behind you, when it's not intended to do so.

Now if you plan on eventually watching movies in the car and want to do 5.1 audio in the car, what I stated above does not apply. In that case you would definitely want rear speakers, and if not exactly the same model as the front, then one that provides close to the same sound ("timbre"), just as should be done for home theater systems. People often use a given comapny's component set up front in this scenario, with the equivalent coaxial model in the rear.
