I suppose if you limited the output power by using a higher impedance speaker(s) then the amp would clip at the max output voltage without driving too many watts - be nice if the inverter had power limits that were adjustable too. Limiting volume is going to limit power to a point - until you get a bigger signal level.

Why do people say that higher impedance systems are more stable?

Generally higher impedance systems (outputs) have lower currents flowing and can run a bit more efficiently thus producing less waste heat and tend not to fry. They also tend to NOT push the power levels on the components as hard so there is more margin for safety. Sort of like running NA instead of a Turbo.
