Default Remote Key Engine Start

Whats up SL? I havn't been here in ages and I remember seeing a thread about a Remote Key Start for the 1st gen tC. My friend is planning to get one for his 08 tC and I was wondering where we can get one and get it installed?

Go to any Best Buy and have an MECP certified installer work on it. You will need some extra parts like a bypass module (FLCAN) which will cost about 100 bucks. Then other things like a ball bearing switch for the hood. This makes sure the vehicle will not start with the hood open. Good idea for when you work on the vehicle. I recommend something with a keyless entry because your factory keyless will not work when the vehicle is running.

Do you want something with security as well? It will be a little more money but sometimes insurance companies will give you a discount if you have an aftermarket security.

I don't know exactly what my friend wants for his car but I'm sure he would like that security option as well as the car not starting when the hood is open. I know nothing about the remote start but I will tell my friend what you just told me and tell him to go see an MECP certified installer at Best Buy. Thanks for the info!

I have the Compustar Remote Start/Alarm combo and at the time it cost me about $500 installed. I love it and its the best system I have ever had.

Not to say they all are... but I've seen a decent amount of hacked work out of best buy. I also have a friend that worked for a best buy for a few years who does top notch work... I think its a roll of the dice @ bb.

You are absolutely correct with that. I have been with this company for seven years. Was number 41 in the company last year for installing remote starts. Not bad considering there are 1100 stores. OP is you need help with any of them let me know. I am actually helping both viper and code alarm develop their remote starts for next year.
