Why don't you just take off the shift **** and put it in the arm rest box?

Takes less than 3 seconds, doesn't cost any money, and might even discourage someone from trying to steal your car.

Common sense FTW.

Wouldn't common sense actually be buying a shift **** that doesn't burn the hell out of you in the first place? There's no rule that says weighted ***** have to be cruel to their owners.

On top of that, you don't want to remove/replace an OBX/GReddy/any-sleeved-**** that many times. The molded plastic insert they use won't hold up very long to that.

Honestly, I would look at replacing the GReddy shift ****. I don't know how long ago you got yours, but I got mine about a year ago, and the chrome is already worn off on one whole side.

Unless you're like me, and don't want to spend any more money on a shift ****, so you put a sock over it every time you leave.

Yea, got it for like $18 shipped off eBay.

This isn't mine, but I have the same shifter and shift boot. I'm just missing the short throw, which makes it look 100x better.

The angle I took it at doesn't help too much either lol. The GT **** does sit a bit higher than the stock one, since it screws directly into the bottom of the ****, rather than the stock **** which has the threads deeper into it. It's pretty heavy, I'd say about 4-5x heavier than the stock ****, doesn't heat up and it's smooth as hell lol.

I have one of those Scion Ipod/Cell Phone covers they give you at the car shows and I put it over my ****, and it keeps my **** nice and cool, just keep it in your center console and it should work fine

Well I can already tell that the tread is starting to get worn out. It rotates very easily now...I don't think taking it off daily would help

My chrome looks fine actually...only thing wrong with it is me nicking the top plastic part.

^ They make some for Autos, but it's usually harder because most of the time they need to incorporate the O/D button into it.

Also because a shifter is more important to a MT...most AT drivers won't bother changing theirs

You could get an auto, and only have to use it for 3 seconds to shift....

but i drive an auto, and i keep my hand on the **** anyway....

I see it as a rite of passage by burning the ____ out of my hand, but usually i just use a scion armband, scion accessory sock, scion sock, or just some scion branded object to cover it...

You know that round thing in front of the instrument cluster? The thing with the horn in the middle? You're supposed to keep both hands on that.

I drive with one hand on the wheel and one hand on the shifter most times... Just how I use the Yoke with one hand, and my other is on the throttle control, in airplanes.... because I fly planes...

But in your automatic car, the shifter does absolutely nothing for you while driving.

You are aware that a car and a plane are two different things, yes?
