Default side airbags?

i have side rear airbags and a pillar bar waiting to be put in. I want to know if anyone ever took them out before and if they did, how hard is it. im not planning on getting into an accident nor am i keeping people in the back seat.. So if you know how to take out an airbag, please let me know! For the rear side panel FYI.

Who DOES plan on getting into an accident? I wouldn't mess with my airbags. The benefits far outweigh the negatives if something does happen while in your car.

I was trying to take the a-pillar off this weekend to ge to the dashboard screws. Let me tell you, with SRS i have no clue how to do it. It was mucho hard. I could only pull the top off, about an inch. And that was it, it wouldnt give.

Yeah you gotta realize, inorder for the A pillar to not explode to pieces when the airbag deploys its CRAZILY Stuck to the frame.

hmm... gently pry a little part the section above your window where the handle is. peek inside.

ta da... curtain airbag.

whatever's in the a-pillar is probably electronics/sensors/ other crap that makes it deploy.

So, you are saying the a-pillar with the sign "SRS airbig" does not actually contain the airbag? mummm...

Once again, i was trying to take the a-pillar off for a while and got it about an inch away from its normal position, ther curtain side airbag is only about 4-5 inches from the top. Then its just empty.

If you were going to remove all the airbags, I'd call you an idiot. But if you're certain you will NEVER carry passengers in the rear and you want to remove JUST the rear portion, than I say "good luck."

Be careful! Disconnect your battery before messin' with that; lest the airbags deploy and give you a roundhouse kick in the face. I don't know how likely that is, but better safe than sorry. Also, once you start messing with the accelerometers there is a chance your airbag warning light may go on and I think that only the dealer can reset that. Read that somewhere. Some guy disconnected his seats to take them out and his light turned on. BEWARE THE YELLOW WIRES AND YELLOW CONNECTORS!
