when my tC is remote started, i have a seperate remote that unlocks/disarms my car. i still can use the keyfob remote to unlock and lock also.

im not too sure but it does involve the chip inside the key to my best knowledge. cause when he installed the immobilizer bypass unit, he needed one of my keys ( i used my valet) and then he gave me back the metal part of the key saying that the chip in the other part of the key was used inside the bypass.

I believe there is a transponder chip inside of the key. It has a certain "code" that a receiver inside the steering column reads when inserted into the key slot. If it is the correct code, it will start the car. If not...well you know.

I am really excited to hear of any progress on this project. I have been clamoring for someone to make a remote start that uses the default tC key. I mean...the "problem" only seems to be to figure a way for any remote starting device to read the key press of whatever you wanted as the remote start. Like others said, I think that best bet would be to make it so if you press the Panic button in succession two or three times to activate it.

I'm completely stupid when it comes to these things...or I would dive right in and try it out.

Interesting, So when you start your car with your extra aftermarket fob, you cans til use the STOCK tC fob to unlock the doors?

you use two fobs on a daily basis then? this is valuable info... please confirm.

^

sorry, what i meant to say was that both of my key fobs can unlock and lock my car.

But now that i just tried it out while it was running, i CAN NOT unlock using the stock keyfob; only using the aftermarket one locks and unlocks the car.

sorry for any confusion. :/

however, if i remote kill from my aftermarket fob, the car automatically locks itself, the headlights stay on (if they are on) and i can use the stock key fob (since its off) again to lock and unlock my car.

Just make sure that you have kill switchs in the shifter assembly... even though i did when i had my srt-4... I once left it in gear on accident, and the kill switches failed...

I walked into the garage and found this

i paid my homeowners insurence which was a $250 deductable and got a new garage door/track/door opener.

Good Times!

comes standard with all srt-4's

actually... its a 2 car door in the alley, and the door to the yard is a single car door... on the side is a standard 30" door. Now, the back yard is paved, so if i really wanted to... i could probably squeeze in 3 cars in the back yard, and 2 in the garage.

though i thnk i'm going to break up the cement in the back yard and put in a koi pond and some kind of tree.

The vehicle "knows" that the key is actually in the ignition because there is a Key sense sensor. when you stick the key in the ignition it grounds out the sensor. here is a listing of all the wire colors needed for remote start alarm keyless. the wire, color, polarity and location where wire can be found are all listed below. If it says green to blue or something like that it means that it is one color into the plug and the other color out of the plug

12volts red (30A), white (25A)
Starter black + ignition harness
Second Starter green + ignition harness
Ignition blue + ignition harness
Second Ignition yellow + ignition harness
Accessory gray + ignition harness
Keysense black - ignition harness
Power Lock green to blue - driver kick, 20 pin plug
Power Unlock purple to pink (double pulse) - driver kick, 20 pin plug
Parking Lights+ brown + top of fuse box, 30 pin plug
Parking Lights- brown - headlight switch
Hazards orange - hazard light switch
Turn Signal(L) yellow + top of fuse box, 30 pin plug
Turn Signal(R) green + top of fuse box, 30 pin plug
Reverse Light pink + top of fuse box, 14 pin plug
Door Trigger orange (D), blue (P) - top of fuse box
Dome Supervision blue - L side of fusebox, 6 pin plug
Trunk/Hatch Pin purple - top of fuse box, 30 pin plug
Trunk/Hatch Release orange - driver kick, gry 12 pin plug
Factory Alarm Arm arms with lock
Factory Alarm Disarm disarms with unlock
Disarm No Unlock use key sense wire
Tachometer black ac data link conn. under dash
Brake Wire blue + brake pedal switch
Parking Brake black - parking brake switch
Horn Trigger white - horn switch

Any questions let me know

i had a DEI system remote start my car with the factory FOB. all i did was hook the white/blue wire on the DEI unit to the hazards switch on the car. that way if you hit the unlock button on the fob it will unlock the doors, then remote start the car, or you can hit the lock button 2 times and it will keep the doors locked and still remote start the car. Worked great, it always confused people.

There is no way to use the fob once the vehicle is running. all toyotas are like this.

good luck!

So harmonic...it's just a matter of wiring?!? Is it recommended or safe to do it this way?

So I guess the way it works in your situation was that when you hit the key fob...the lights either blink once or twice. When your remote got a two hit from the light lead wire (probably +) it did the remote start?

Care to share any more?

When you say no way to use fob once inside the car...does that mean no remote start or unlock/lock? Is this normal? I havent tried it yet..

Also..what unit did you have unit did you have on the tc?

oops, I had just made a new post about how LMW installed their LuxLink remote start system into my car. It works perfectly with my stock key. It works for both auto and manual (which I drive) tCs.

Don't ask me how it's installed though cuz' well.. I didn't do it myself. =P
