Default tC Window Track Bent -- Dealer says replace entire door????!

Estimated at $2,450 for parts and labor. Really?

The window track is bent... Motor works fine, but I disabled button because window get stuck on the bent part of the track.

They say I need to replace whole door because the track isn't sold separately (it's welded to the door itself, stock)

Isn't there a way a body shop or welder or someone can fix this??
Help. Need info a.s.a.p.

Thanks guys

It was like that when I got it... not sure.

I hear the door can overextend (like if its windy) and somehow the door can swing open hard, and tweak and put pressure on the window setup inside of the door, sometimes messing up the window.... I've heard 1 other place on line say this = needing a new door. BUT HOPING THERE IS ANOTHER WAY.

Why not get a door off a tC in a wreck, and just repaint and replace?

If the window track is bent... then bend it back.

Repair shops would replace your entire car to fix a burned-out taillight if they could.

I think back in 06 or 07 there was a service bulletin about the door check. it's that part of the door by the hinge (middle) that allows the door to sit 1/2 way open then all the way. It stops the door from opening the whole way to bend the hinge off. The service bulletin said
there was a bad batch of door checks, that would loosen themselves up and if loose, can actually bend the track in the door. Then of course it's what you have. When you do get a new door put in, make sure you get the new door check part so this won't happen again.

For the rest who still have the older (think pre-07) door check, just make sure the nuts on the outside of the door check (by the hinge) are snug and not loose. Then you won't have the issue if they don't get loose.

But that's the most likely reason of your window problems.

ok oddly enough, my driverside window track was bent to.. how? **** beats me, but i went to a local body shop and they just bent it back in place for $40! after i saw how they did it, it looks really easy to do, i just didnt know how to remove the glass window to get into the track so that i could do it myself... go to a bodyshop and they should be able to fix it for you..

thinking about it, i think the reason mine bent was because i needed to replace the door check since one of the bolts broke inside it and i think that everytime i would close the door, the door check would hit the track and bend it..

yup.. most times i've seen that happen was due to the door check being tweaked and bent.. and when the door closed and then opened... it got caught on and messed up the window track.

i've bent my friend's window track back into usable shape before, but he still had to get the door stop/check fixed.
