Default Time for a System

So I to begin with I am constantly on these forums but never decided to post anything till now. Now that I have money to put a system in my car, i am going to do so.... now to the point.

I have decided that i want sound quality more than straight bass.

Head Unit:
I havent decided what will suit my needs so im asking for guidance here. I have an ipod so i would like it to have an aux input, as well as more inputs so when i decide to add components it wont be an issue.

Subs:
2- 11Kv.2

Amp:
1- Nine.2

Components:
Coming in the Future.

Trying to keep everything under $800. all comments and/or suggestions are welcomed. And i plan on building my own box so consider that into the price.

I am completely new to car audio so please tell me the best way to hook things up and what not.... how many voice coils for each of the 11kv.2s?

Thanks.

ok....

what is a good head unit for around $150 that has ipod/aux input, and has inputs for front components and rear subs?

can someone tell me what the 13kv2 is closest to what other type of sub? alpine, kicker, or what?

lastly, is it possible to paint or add a finish to the mdf board where it looks like the glossy fiberglass when painted?

reason being is because my friends keep telling me to not go with eD because it is an "off brand" because they have never heard of it and they dont think that eD is any good.

also eD is very good...they maybe unknown but their product quality is amazing. Tell your friends that every company was once a "off brand" so unless you try them out or other have and prove that it is not good then you can say something

Haha, I'd sell you my 6900UB if I had my 800PRS in hand. Unfortunately, I don't yet. However, I'd recommend the Pioneer 6000UB now, it's a great looking unit and is packed full of features for the modest user! Has Front/Rear/Sub outputs as well as 7-band EQ, low pass filter, high pass filter, ipod input... all standard. For $200, it's a steal. Has an OEL screen too.

This is an AWESOME deal for $150 though, ipod adapter cable included free! http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...EH-P490iB.html

I'd go with that one to be honest, it's the best all around price/performance. I put one of these in my friend's car, very nice for the money.

ok so based on the feedback i get right here, i will be purchasing my subs and beginning the fiberglass box within the next week...

which sub will fit my expectations better?
2- eD13kv.2
-or-
2- JL 13W1v2-4

i dont expect either of these subs to blow away any sub at a competition i just want good SQ and have the potential to bring middle to hard bass.....

1- Nine.2x eD

and building my own custom fiberglass box(i will take lots of pics and most definately make a diy out of it)

idk if id go all ed because ive heard nothing but good things from here about them and was sold but when i got to other forums i heard alot of negative things about them not being the "utopia" everyone makes them out to be. its one of the reasons i dont have a system in my car right now.

13k's are a good deal. Much louder than 11k's which I had.

D4 subs will allow 1ohm/4ohm, perfect for nine.2x. On a nine.1, you would have to gain it down some. I would just go nine.1 and have the headroom/additional power for later. I had a 2x and its running my mids now.

Be sure to use the system builder if you are getting comps now. Will save 15% on all equipment prices.

Try the eDi 6000's, v2. Nice set for a great price. Should blow away any thing else in the same price range. I had the 6000v1, nice for the $$. They are returnable under certain conditions too.

Call ED, they will talk you through your system and recommend the right coils, amps, etc. Also lifetime tech support and 5 year warranty. Yeah!

I know, I have an xB but I use/have used a lot of ED equipment.

With Pioneer HU, be sure to make an additional HU to system ground wire. Before connecting any power. So you don't blow that pico fuse! Trust me!

G/L!

idk id say 700 each so a 2k amp would be more than enough but just make sure the ohm load on the amp matches your ohm load on your subs. and your fine.
