Default Two Annoying LED Problems ...

Hey everyone. I decided to do a complete led swap to the tc and it didn't quite go as I had planned:

a) When I was installing the cubby hole light ... the tiny little led slipped out of my fingers, and fell somewhere in the back (I used the passenger side carpet method). I felt around for it, but no luck. How hard would it be to completely remove the passenger side carpet or remove the whole middle console, to make it easier to find it? I know many would forget about it, but for some reason it's bugging the hell out of me and driving me crazy. Im a perfectionist.

b) I purchased the 12led bulbs from superbrightleds.com for my parking lights, and they were extremely loose, so I ended up taping around the base of the led bulb and the plug, to help keep it in place. Now Im worried about the tape melting. Has anyone else had to use this ghetto method? how is it holding up?

any advise is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

the carpet just kinda lifts up without taking out the console. if you really want to though, the console will come out in about 10 minutes.

as for the led bulb, are you sure you got the right size?

i second neothin about just taking out the center console.. its alot easier imo (cause ive done it so much..lol)

and i didnt know they made 12led lights for our parking lights.. but yeah you sure you got the right size? should just fit snug in there once you put it in... maybe didnt turn it all the way till the bulb is locked in there?

so If I remove the console, I would be able to reach completely behind, and feel around?

yes Im pretty sure I ordered the right sizes ... I looked in the tc manual beforehand. The parking lights seemed too loose, for the led bulbs ... they would fit, but not hold in place ... so I decided to wrap the base with duct tape, lol ... what do you think? think it'll melt or something?

i think you should've read the warning that superbrightleds have on their 168/194 bulbs about using them in your headlight housings...

but as far as the #74 you lost... car comes apart easily.

I am aware of their warning, for it is not the first time I had purchased leds from them. I had put some in my cousins is300 parking lights, and they have'nt burned out yet (been a year). I had the correct size, I am positive ... It fit and all but it wouldnt stay in place. Took care of it with tape ... but I have a bad feeling about it.

Are there any post's on this site that give directions to removing the console or the carpet? I would like to get an idea before I start pulling apart random things.

hey squall ... think you can help me with another prob ...

You were right ... I had ordered the wrong size leds for the parking lights. Im a dumba$$ ... and an even bigger one after this ... In the process of removing the bulb, I dropped it into the housing. Luckily I managed to get it out using a plastic stick of somesort with tape around the end. Now the led bulb is stuck in the "enterance" - the black part behind the headlight assembly. I noticed a few bolts, and thought if it would remove the black part. Any experience in this or advise?

get a really sharp razor(like an exacto) and lift up the metal prongs that the bulb has. Then that should make it easier to grab. This is what i did!!

10 minutes for the console.. IF you plan on taking a break in the middle, comes apart VERY easily. just follow the write-up, and you'll have all the peices sitting in your lap in less than 10. Tore mine apart yesterday to run my ipod wiring.
