so im looking at different HU's and the alpine cda-9857 has three 2V preamp outputs while the eclipse cd5000 has three 5V outputs. i currently have an MTX Thunder 3404 amp powering Polk DB6500 front components and infinity kappa 52.7i's in the back. is the difference in preamp outputs gonna be huge or is it something that won't make too much of a difference? plz reply quick, i need to order in 11 minutes!!

The voltage difference isn't really important unless you're going to enter sound quality competitions. The 5v preamp outputs allow you to run the amps with less gain, potentially introducing less noise into the system, which can be an advantage in competition. 2v outputs are common and more than adequate for most people.

 

You will just have to reset your gains, which will be set higher with the alpine unit. So, whatcha gunna do with that eclipse deck?
