well.. i have a buddy who has an upgraded battery and a 360... and the inverter still yells at him when the car is running....
yea... that thing sucks up ALOT of power...

i think you are really wanting to go for something with at least 160wats continuously NOT PEAK, and at least able to hold a few amps.. cause i did a set up before where we had to power alot of xboxes (not in a car btw, but at a venue..lol) and the whole power issue of amps came into play. im guessing maybe something with at least 3 amps would work. maybe even swapping the power supply like what people do with the original xbox.
^^ If it will pull 160watts continuously, then the invertor will be drawing at least 13 amps if the car is off, or around 11.5 amps when the car is running at the same power. Meaning you will need to be able to supply around 20 amps or so to that circuit to account for inrush and a cieling above the 160.
I don't have a 360, but I've had a regular xbox in my tC for about 2 years now..
It will not turn on unless the car is on.. If you just turn the key in the on position is will overpower the power converter and cause the xbox to shut off. I'm not sure if this is a power converter issue or not, but I've tryed two seperate power converters and it hasn't worked with the car off with either one.

Definately get the 2.4GHz wireless controllers, they work great anywhere in the car.
1) do not leave a disc in the drive while in motion. you will trash that disc on the 360.
2) you could gut the unit and get to a point where you embed the unit stealth or oem style...but here is the problem... the power of 3 cpu's gets very very hot. 360's are supposed to run in an open ventilated space, and that isn't just the typical 'we put it in the manual as a recommendation'
i had an original xbox in a large tv console for years, behind 2 door with some adequate cracks for ventilation. no problem at all. place the 360 in there and after about 45 minutes the unit would seize. i had to pull the unit out and place it on an open shelf, free access front and back.
also, the fan is quite loud on it.
any 360 in car intall i have seen has the unit in a somewhat open an accessible place.5 axis mods has two in the xa in the open trunk.
and if you want to see where i mounted my original 12 volt xbox here are some links:

1.74 amps is 200 watts at 115 Volts. If the 360 requires 160watts to run, then that should cover it, although it will be pushing it a little to run it at that value for long periods due to poor heat sinking in an enclosed space.
i found a inverter at auto zone that has 400 watts and can run 24 amps for 50 bucks, i havn't bought it just yet cuz i don't have the money, so right now i just have a ps2 in my glove box.
