What happens when you buy this car and you get home a week later your entire elctrical system goes out? is the toyota dealership going to cover you under warranty? if your headunit or amps stop working, door falls off, the bass cracks your window? your piping out and your induction system blows? are you out?
Im sure it has some type or warranty? but how many issues do you think toyota will give you because your 40k tc just squirted lemon juice in your eye? im not saying that this car is a lemon or anything like that, all Im saying is everyone knows what kinda of issues you can run into when you start modding your car, what kinda of issues you think you will have with this car? I dont know about you guys but if I was to spend 40k on a car, it best have a warranty that will protect my investment.

That stuff is pointless tho. The type of person who would buy this car, would do the mods anyhow and kill the warranty.

I could easily have bought a 40k car and had it like everyother 40k car out there, but instead I bought a cheaper car and made it original. Its not for everyone, but those that it is not for, wouldnt buy this 40k tC anyhow.

Hello Everybody!! i figure I would put my two cents in and answer some questiones on this car since I work there and am the only one allowed to drive this thing and know it inside and out.

1. The warranty - When it comes to the 400 hours of work that was put into the interior of the car, Jeremy Katz from Advanced Audio Design in Sharon MA states this: If anything, the parts will fail...but never due to any faulty install. He is currently ranked 7th in the COUNTRY in doing custom work on cars! P-diidy, Aerosmith, David Ortiz and many other celebs he has done...and has never advertised!! He warranties all his work, LIFETIME...!

2. Cost of Car - I am at home now but do not have the list of costs infront of me...but in a nutshell...400hrs x $75 will gie you an idea of the interior! ($30,000) Plus parts, plus the actual car...our cost is worth way more than $70K, but IT IS A SHOW CAR!! I do drive it when I go to shows but let me explain why we did it.

3. WHY - Jim Clair Jr. son Jim Clair III graduated college and came back to the family business and was asked by his dad to be the Scion manager! After some weeks of learning about scion and taking classes he saw what scion was all about and said...WE NEED A CAR! After going to his father and explaing this to him his father agreed. Reason: In the 70's his fathers Porsche dealership needed some change, so he hired prffesional Race car drives as sales people and did performance work on some cars to take customers on test drives! Nobody was doing it and they wanted to be different!

bottom line...I personally think the the Clair Family deserves some credit to spend this type of money to be different! We are not a HUGE scion delaership, but we admire the community it builds and the atmosphere it creates! I would never spend this type of money on a Scion! I am born and raised in Germany and would like my BMW...but the Clairs did not spare on this car...and would like to start with some ideas for the Next gen. xB for next year, but would like to sell this one if we can.

I do not mean to offend anybody with this post, but rather thank everyone for their feedback. I know there are a lot of questions that still remain unanswered, but just post or pm!

-Joe

400 hours of work for the interior??

Come on now- That is 2 people 8 hours a day for 5 months to do the interior.
I agree the car costs over 40k to build. But not 75k on the interior alone.

2 people time 8 hrs a day = 16hrs a day, 80hrs a week, 5 weeks...not 5 months! Personally, I think it should of been more in the 320-380 range, but opinions change and new ideas always had them go back and change already done stuff!

I meant to put weeks my bad on the typo. But I still dont think it took that long. All it is, is fiberglass and bondo for the box, doors and headunit. Then a 2 hour install of the seats.

(and yes I have done fiberglass and know how long and drawn out it is)

Fiberglass dash, console, back seat (amp rack), Sub-enclosure, door panals, installation of speakers, wiring, hushma throughout, steel amp rack, suede throughout, interior led lighting and on door panals as well as in the sub enclosure, underbody lighting....and when you see the car the install is flawless. Focal President flew in from France to use our car in a tade show and Audison North and South America reps asked the guy that did all the work on our car to do some for them after seeing our car!

Even at 300 hrs it is still over $20,000 worth of labor!
