Yeah mrc00l88, you might want to get that in writing (or did you?). Not that I don't believe you, but it just seems way too early. Maybe they did put you down for an '06, but they probably have no idea when it's coming in (could be longer than 6-8 weeks). Besides, you weren't even able to see and choose what the new accessories and everything were. I wouldn't believe the salesman was "ordering" me an '06 unless I could see proof on paper with details.

I'm a believer that the '06 is coming in June/July, but I don't like how dealers are already trying to con a sale one way or another. Whether it's, "Oh, it won't be coming out til next year" or "Yeah! I can order you an '06 now!"

I have a Scion salesman that sends me a letter every week to basically remind me he's waiting for my business. I wrote him saying I wasn't interested until the '06s were ready, and to please contact me then. He still sends me letters and says he has me on his list of notification. He knows I won't fall for his crap - because like most of us on here, we're more educated on Scion than the dealers themselves.

I do have it in writing. When I went to the dealer, I had no idea that the 06's were coming out, so we wrote down 05 on the paper. After looking around on the distributer website, the sales rep told me that I could no longer get an 05, so she changed in to 06. The distributer website also said that production of the 06's will begin in May. I also thought that all of this was strange and I had called Scion Customer Service, and they said that the car should arrive in June/July. So I believe that is the correct time period for the arrival of the 06's. As far as different options, I was told that everything was going to be the same, except for the steering wheel controls, ipod jack, and some head unit changes, but they were all standard... Pretty much the same thing that bd said in this same thread. I hope some of this info helps, if anyone has heard or knows of anything else, please post.

I went to Cherry Hill Toyota/Scion yesterday and took a test drive in a 2005. I inquired about the 06 and was told all new tCs being sold will be an 06 and you cannot purchase an 05. I was also confirmed that IIP was being replaced by nautical blue. I asked about the extra features (ipod connector, controls, new head unit) and the salesman supposedly checked some pipeline and he could not confirm. I was told I can put an order in starting now and it will take "at the most, 6 weeks".

Okay, I can confirm some of this now as well. My dealer source has also said they can take orders for '06s but do not know exactly when they'll come in. He said he should have more information from Scion Monday...

Default Switched dealerships...

So I went back to Charles Maund Scion today to check on the status of my order. Naturally my sales guy had forgotten to check up on it, and on top of that the GM didn't even know that the 2005 tC's have stopped production. So I cancelled my order and went down to place an order for an '06 with Norm at Champion Scion.

BTW, a Scion rep also told me this morning (over chat) that the 2005's have stopped production and the 2006's will show up this summer.

Just got a memo from GST. Tentative release date for the 2006 tC is 6.2.2005 and the tentative release for the xA/B will be 7.21.2005

Circuit City ahs iPod adapters for factory units, and the xA, xB, and tC are there, I don't knwo what the adapter does, but for $149 I can't see it being a modulator. Has anyoen else checked it out? It said Toyota adapter ont he frotn and I glanced at the back to see if Scionw as on it, surely enough, it was. But I didn't read the darn thing (my bad)

heeeeell yea!

i found some $70 adapter that you can program with your steeling wheel controls and an aftermarket head unit, so my previous concerns about the rumored steering wheel controls and me wanting to install a new head unit are now gone. apparently it's pretty good via reviews, and places such at crutchfield sell it. hopefullythe list of cars its usable with will include the 06 tC

Supply of tC has sucked royal lately, and we are in what you call "Model Year Sell Down". The 05 stock will be depleted to the point where the crossover to 06 MY will be as seamless as possible. What Scion is trying to do is prevent a glut of 05 cars sitting on lots as 06 are hitting the market. Like last year, Scion won't be sending too many 06MY cars to dealers still holding 05 stock. Since we are on order status again here, that won't be a problem. But there will be at least one customer in our queue that is going to get an 06 instead of an 05.

And since the 06 is a different car than the 05, the pricing CAN change and as long as it's posted, it's OK.

I still stand by my numerous posts regarding release dates and new features, and I have yet to hear anything from Scion to negate my findings.

So to sum up:

- Buy an 05 tC on the lot? Sure
- Order an 05 tC? Unlikely
- iPod connectivity in the 06? Signs point to yes
- Steering wheel audio controls? Probably (I think that they will utilize the RAV4 wheel)
- New orders getting fulfilled with 06s? Yes
- Sudden influx of availability in Scions? Don't hold your breath
- Color changes on tc? Yes
- Color changes in xA? Maybe (I got some interesting info today, but not enough to do more than speculate)
- TRD supercharger? It exists
- TRD SC Warranty? 5yr/60K (!)
- Power upgrade? No info yet
- Boxers or briefs? Boxer Briefs ;)

Hope I helped. And if not, pound sand.

guys got any tips on tryin to preorder an '06? i called a couple scion dealers here and they both swear by that the '06's arent coming out till sept/oct/nov

if they really are being made this month and coming out sometime in june/july wouldnt you think some dealers would have some info even if you stand by your own claim you don't want an '05 and want an '06?

My dealer source at Miller Toyota in Manassas has confirmed with me that they can order, but doesn't know when exactly they'll come in. Ask for Jason Reheiser. I haven't bothered calling, as I'm still waiting. You're welcome to give them a try if you already haven't.

Even if you don't want to order from Manassas, you can at least call those other dealers (if Miller confirms) and have something to back yourself up on. That'll make them feel behind the wall. Have you called Lustine or Waldorf? Those are big ones in the area.

actually lustine is the one i originally test drove the car about a month ago... the sales manager made a call and said 'yea they arent coming out till september or later'... he then proceeded to quiz me on what other cars i was looking at and who made them... either he was playing dumb or he really was... same place that the sales guy swore the SC was available to be installed

I am in a similar situation, deciding weather or not to wait for the '06. I actually ordered my 05 the other day, only after the dealer assured me that it wouldn’t be until sept/oct that they would start to get the new models. Like everyone else here, i would much rather have the 06 (especially with the steering wheel controls and iPod connection, if that happens), but i need the car before school starts up again in fall. This thread has been really helpful, and i was wondering if anyone in the know has any updated info (and maybe a link to a press release/scion report/etc). Also, i would expect the 06 MSRP to go up - anyone have any estimates on that, too? Thanks for the help...i am really excited!
