Default 4sp to 5sp

Excuse me for my ignorance, but is it possible to rebuild the transmission from a 4sp to a 5sp? Or rebuild a transmission so that even though its a 4 speed it can do what a 5sp could?

Anything is possible with enough money. It's all about ratios. It would be easier to find a 5sp auto thant try to make one.

It'd be cheaper to sell the car and buy a manual.

I'm thinking he doesn't want a manual but a 5spd auto, but I could be wrong. It wouldn't be so simple as to just swap in a 5spd auto tranny either (if you can find one), your ECU would also need to be reflashed to even let it know it has a 5th gear.

Yup. I want a 5sp auto is why. Not manual. I would go crazy and "road rage" up the wall with that thing in traffic. Just wondering if it is possible to rebuild a tranny with 5th gear within a reasonable price range.

when i get near 120 i notice that im about redline like 5600 rpm. This would be at night on the freeway through farmland and so you can see far out. Also better gas mileage.

i highly doubt it..you see an auto tranny has a sun gear and a planetary gears (basically they surround the sun gear...like how the plantes surround the sun...hense its name). Because of these gears the tranny is made a certain size, if you want a fifth gear on your auto tranny just buy a new one because you cant pop one in a tranny that was made to have only 4 gears. Also my friend owns a 5 speed auto honda accord and he never notices he engine ever even use the 5th gear....i have also noticed this in my dads 05 accord with a 5 speed auto....heck it did not even go into 5th gear on the highway either...your better off w/o the 5th gear...besides it will make your tranny heaiver too. ...hope this helps
