yea but anyone know how to turn it off

cuz i already got an oil change at 2900
and my tires rotated around 4900

so this 5k maint required light is kinda annoying me...

Turn car to ON hold down trip reset button. Keep holding down the trip reset and turn car off. Then while still holding button down turn key to on and wait till lines on trip guage go away then let go of the button you are done

 

close...
turn on the car ..check to make sure the odo is displayed, not a trip meter...
turn car off...

(note if your sure that its on odo you can skip the first two steps...)

press and hold the odo trip set button, and turn the key to the on position...
the odo display will have a bunch of dashes...they will count down (..disappear..)
when they are all gone your done...
turn the key off. and have a nice day...

after the dashes count down it will flash a bunch of 0's and then your regular odo. then you're done.

 

It is also in the manual but took me a little bit to find. They should have put this item in the back and indexed so easier to find.

i was dead on i didnt say look for trip meter i said use the trip meter reset button

 

but it won't work if it in a trip a or b setting....
thats the check for odo part you missed

you know, the key has to be in for it to be turned to the on position.

and you have to own a tC for this to work.

 

No. You can do that on the xA and xB. For that matter, you don't even have to OWN the car for this to work.

 

Wow. I didn't know this about our cars. I haven't reached 5000 miles yet (yeah, I know it's taking forever), but I think I might have freaked out if I didn't read this post. lol. Or maybe it would've just been like, "hey, that's cool!" Thanx!

hey guys, im at 4600 miles and my maintenance light is flashing, is that normal?

 

im at 7k and mine hasn't flashed yet

 

Maintenance light comes on at 4500 miles since the last reset.

 

If you reset your light at 5500 miles, will the next reminder be at 10500 or 10000? Is it every 5000 from your reset? Or does it go off at preset intervals (ie. 0, 5000, 10000 etc)

Yes, starts with a flashing and then goes off. After a while it stays on permanently (stops flashing) until it is reset.

 

It starts flashing at 4500 miles iirc. At least when it started doing that thats when I took mine in for service.
