ALL NEW 2011 Scion tC coming Sept. 2010
I wish.
Not going to happen this year. Just got back from California on Saturday (work trip) and going to Atlantic City next weekend for a bachelor party. Then a wedding in Pittsburgh a couple weeks after that. Then possibly going back to CA for work. I'm pretty tapped out.

Crizazzy...new tC. I used to keep updated on stuff especially when i was in high school. My girlfriend was looking at getting a new tC this summer but, we'll be sure to check the new one out. Still on the fence of giving her my '05 and picking up myself a xB1. Just sucks having two coupes, 25hwy with the hemi and 29 hwy with the tC. Wouldn't mind the utility and mpg gain of the xb1.
Back on topic, I hope scion/Toyota doesn't fawk this one up.

Personally I'd just wait & see. Plus I wouldn't jump on any new model platforms until any kinks are worked out or the aftermarket catches up.
Speaking of which, aside from the suspected drivetrain, wheels and what the HVAC looks like, do we know if the new model shares any platforms with any existing Toyota make?

What do you think today's teaser means? 0.01% of me thinks it has to do with a drivetrain change. The other 99.9% told the 0.01% to use my head and that it's to showcase the new wheels.

The sneak preview is up on scionowners.com. Doesn't really tell us too much more than we already know, and still doesn't show the car. Well, there's always tomorrow!
2.5L, 4 cylinder 6 speed engine. 18 inch wheels, "bigger breaks". 8 speaker stereo with the USB input.
Here's a screencap of the top: What the hell is going on with the hatchback? Is it just weird shadows on the computer render or is it really depressed like that?

Since the 6 speed is confirmed, I am almost 100% positive we'll get the 2.5 2AR from the Camry SE. The Camry already has the 6 speed auto and manual mated to it (parts sharing makes things cheaper and they want to be able to produce these cars as cheaply as possible). It's still possible that we get a different motor but that would be more effort on Toyota to be able to mate a different engine to an already existing gearbox. At best what everyone can hope for is a 2.7 1AR from the Venza/Highlander.
The most likely set up I see happening is a mild tune to the 2.5 AR to make 190 hp and make about the same fuel economy as the current tC.
The Camry SE has a 179hp/171tq spec 2.5 AR engine that supposedly still makes 22/33 MPG. So I can see them tuning the engine for a little bit more pep (just like how they did with the aging 2.4 AZ engine) but sacrificing some MPG.
