My one single issue with the FT-86 right now is timing. I've been itching for the last year to get into something different and there's a good chance the FT-86 won't even be available until late 2011 at the VERY EARLIEST. Which means likely 2012. I'm not sure I can hold out that long.

 

Looks pretty good though, I don't hate the back end, still need a better look but it looks good so far

Well I don't think it looks better than the current tC from what I can tell. But hopefully the new features will make the total package a step in the right direction.

 

The tail looks like they came straight off a 94 Hyundai Elantra.

 

I hope the big "surprise" will be RWD..

 

It won't be. If it was then there would be no need to spend 5-10k more on the FT-86.

 

If I had to take a stab at the pricing, tC - $18-19,000, FT-86 - $22-28,000 (range in options). The FT86 has to be priced at the same level as the Gen Coupe.

 

That would be a hell of a surprise but just don't hold your breath.

Remember the price point they're going for here... under $20k (and frankly, it should be back down under $17k if you ask me).

Maybe it's on airbags?

Just throwing this out there, but what if it's AWD? I mean the Avensis is and you can still get a Matrix in AWD. The parts are already made so the question is whether they used them.

 

An interesting idea. I mean if they really are able to use existing stuff, that could sort of keep the price down. At least try to keep it under $20k right?

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Whatever the big surprise is must be something substantial. And since we already know the engine and tranny specs, what else could it be? Anything interior wise is nothing special. We've always had the pano roof. We already have/had projectors and LED tails (not that those are anything to get excited about). I can't think of anything else that would be worth keeping a secret.

just saw this yesterday. Theres been so many "new tc is coming out" threads, everytime I see them, I just shrug them off. But its actually happening!!!
If it somehow was AWD and cheap, it was rock the tuner world for sure

 

The fact they're releasing the car right before Exposed also has me thinking.
