ALL NEW 2011 Scion tC coming Sept. 2010
Agreed no manual equals big fail as well as if it only has 169hp! LAME!!
It defintely needs close to 175-180hp and similar torque. a LSD would be nice but that would up the price. You would be looking at a 20k+ tC base model. I dotn think that will happen. Although its gettign close with the recent price increases over the years.

Or how about the Honda F22C? 247HP/163TQ. Same amount of torque as the tC, 54% more power, and .2L smaller.
Or the Ecotec LE5. 2.4L, 175HP/166TQ.
The list goes on and on.
And the 4k price difference between doesn't only include a better motor. Don't forget that the Si comes standard with better tires, better brakes, better suspension, a better chassis, LSD, better seats, better transmission...that list goes on and on also. Not to mention that the car wasn't built by Lego and doesn't sound like you're inside a box of Cheerios.

Ok, then forget that example, considering you think 163tq is not enough in a 2700lb car, but 161tq is in a 2800lb car. Let's just jump straight to the Hyundai Theta II motor. 40 more HP, 25 more TQ, and more fuel efficient...and it's made by Hyundai.

I have nothing against Hyundai. They've significantly stepped up in quality and technology. Apparently they doing something a little better than Toyota as far as efficiency goes. But that wasn't the point of my post as we were comparing tC vs Si. If we were comparing who builds the best 4cyl, I would bring something like Cosworth into the equation.

Well I'm throwing another motor into the equation.
Either way, the new tC will be what the first gen tC should have been. It'll still be a good 4 years behind the curve.

Just remember the 6 speed manny trans is in other toyota cars just like the 1st gen 5speed manny so cost will not be much more if any at all cuz it's mass produced and used in other cars.
Also the 6 speed manny will give it better gas milage which is a big seller now days.
and for the HP talk it was said it will be like 189/190hp and our scion manager didn't know if there was an lsd but I's assume no. Scion told him they want to keep the target age at 25 and under and low cost that's why the toyo/subaru won't go to Scion.

Giving any car a 6speed over a 5speed doesn't mean the final gear ratio will be any better for improved gas mileage...
And you can also count me in on the "will not buy it crowd" if it doesn't come with a true manual tranny.
