it was posted here awhile ago..

just stick some foam tape in there and let me know if the noise is gone.. for some of us this has worked fine...
I tried the foam and no luck. Even tried bigger stopper on back of hatch. My rattle is not too bad. The strange thing is sometimes the rattle is worse than other days. Not sure if it is how the hatch is closed or not. Still waiting on the struts for the TSB. However, I doubt this is going to fix as the other 10 "fixes" have not fixed.

has anyone had their dealer re-adjust the strike hook for the latch? the xb had a tsb for that rattle and it was re-adjusting the strike plate.. causing a tighter fit...

A found a solution, under the flip up plate inside the car in the middle, youll find some sort of electrical head unit, for the '05 models, on the left side theres two buttons, one labled up, one labled down with the word "VOLUME" next to it, on the '06 models theres is a simular electrical controll box under the retracting cover, in the middle there is a metal **** kinda thing--- '05 models just hold the ^ button for about 10-13 seconds, for the '06 models turn the **** in a clockwise direction one to one and a half rotations----- NO MORE RATTLE!!! YOUR WELCOME!!!

there aint no fixing it , If you dont like the rattles do what i am doing TRADE IT IN , I have far more probs then just rattles , mines falling apart at the seams . Interior pieces falling off , seat covers rippin apart , the list goes on and on and on . I have called Scion Corporate several times , Hell most of them are on a frist name basis with me now . Either way I am getting rid of it END OF STORY

Sorry you have had problems. I have had the moonroof rattle (fixed) but still have a minor hatch rattle. Other than that the car has been GREAT. Much better than expected.

Is there a recall on the original hatch struts? Mine started rattling like a son-of-abich around 20k miles. It has been driving me absolutly crazy recently. It rattles when im idling for the love of god!

I just want to remove the galss, thats how horribly annoying it is.

You're 100% right about the struts...the struts from my 05 tC are dead (very difficult to lift the hatch)...the replacement parts are on the way

Playing the radio do drown out noise is pathetic, like saying "duck" when your roof leaks instead of fixing it. I drove home last night with the hatch open and didn't hear a single rattle. For those of you who don't have rattles the radio is not loud enough to drown them out.

There isn't one that refers to the hatch, tho.

I'll just remove the hatch and turn it into a truck.

I took everything out of the back of my car except the spare. The rattle was the loudest I'd ever heard it. I tried CHI-BCP-TC's fix with rubber weather stripping from Auto Zone. One piece over each screw where the rubber stoppers land and one piece over each of the catches on the sides of the hatch..... BINGO. Rattle Eliminated. Thanks CHI-BCP-TC! Hopefully this will help my dealer find a permanent fix. Just spent 3 hours waxing the car and its raining bananas UGH.
