Default Blotching / fading upholstery

My 8 mos. old 2005 Black Sand Pearl tC has blotchy, fading front seats. Why? No chemicals, or cleaners have touched them, only vaccuming. No I didn't suck out the color, as the "clever" gent suggested at Rick McGill's Toyota. Don't smoke and I primarily park in a covered lot. So what's up with the fabric?

Anyone else, "GOT SPOTS"?

The backseat covers look as good as the day we drove home from the dealer. I don't get it. Fortunately for me Scion stands behind their product and customer service. They've been great!!! Even with spots, I'm a satisfied Scionist!!

I get blotches from water getting on the fabric. As far as fading I havent expierneced that , But I generally park in a garage(home) and have dark window tint as well as keep the sunshades closed when the roof isnt open

Yeah same thing happened to me. I'm planning on reupholstering them or putting in racing seats anyway so I don't really care what happens to them.

i don't think its fading, go do this test: scratch your fingernail on the fabric that is on your armrest in the center console. it will come up white...ok? you know what that is? dead skin cells and body oils. everyone has them, no matter how clean you are. plus, if you constantly wash yourself, it will dry out your skin, which in tern makes your body produce more oil to help preserve the skin.

i suggest simple soap and water, and scrub it a little, the seats can take a good amount of abuse.

I am not fond of the fabric. It seems everytime I lay a hand on it especially the door panels I end up marking it which does come off or when I clean the inside it seems to attract loose things.

Oh well the seats do feel comfy.

This is why I always get leather seats for my cars. With black leather seats, you never worry about staining, blotching and other wear damage. I have owned a several cars with leather now and I'll never consider getting cloth uphoulstery again. It feels good to have my little nephews ride in the back of my tC these days and not feel nervous about them messing up the seats.
Get the Katzkinz leather covers (In black) for your seats and all your stain and blotching troubles go away!

Thanks for all the helpful feedback. Leather is probably the way to go, as long as the ride feels this good. I'm sure it will be as good, if not better.

Take a damp sponge to the spots. What it is...is the fabric is very porous. When water from rain drips in it causes the dirt to rise up. It will go away. Might be time to clean the seats.

Default spots on seats

i had the same happen to me. on the left part of drivers seat . one night at the wendys drive thru I figured it out as i rolled down the window to pay for my food, and it was raining. the spots came from the rain water thru my window. u have this happen a few times and it will spot ur seats, it looks like its "faded" or something
i dunno if its crappy material or what. i talked to dealership and they re gonna replace my seat cover. so we will see how that goes.....
